HubSpot has been growing in popularity as an online marketing platform for small businesses over the last few years. The reason behind this growth is because they offer many different tools that help business owners manage their clients more efficiently. One such tool is its own Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system called Contact Manager. While it's not technically known as "Customer Relation" or something similar, we decided to call it a CRM system because that's exactly what it does - manage customer relations. It also helps you track leads, make calls, send emails, etc., which are all things done by traditional CRMs. However, while HubSpot may be a very popular name among marketers today, there aren't too many people who know much about how they got started. So, if you're interested in knowing how HubSpot came into existence, read on!

Let's start off with some basic information regarding the technology used by HubSpot. What kind of database did HubSpot use when it first began? Is it still using one now? How does HubSpot differ from other CRM systems like Salesforce? Let's find out...

What type of database is HubSpot?

First off, let's talk about where HubSpot uses its data storage. Unlike most companies, HubSpot doesn't store their source code files on any computer but instead utilizes Amazon Web Services' servers. This means that even though you can access these codes via mobile apps, the actual processing happens on remote servers. All databases stored on those servers are then accessed through a web browser.

This method makes HubSpot extremely scalable since users don't need to download anything onto their computers before accessing them. Furthermore, it gives every user equal accessibility no matter where they go. In addition, due to the nature of public hosting, HubSpot can afford to pay less per month than most other companies do. As mentioned above, it stores everything remotely so that each user only needs a URL rather than having to install software themselves. Users can simply enter http://www.[their domain] directly into their browsers to reach HubSpot's main page.

Another big difference between HubSpot and others is that HubSpot isn't limited to just storing data locally. Instead, it offers integration services that allow third parties to plug into the site's functions. For example, someone could create a website that integrates with HubSpot's emailing service to post news articles straight onto visitors' inboxes. Another person could build another app that allows customers to book appointments right within the app itself. These integrations add convenience and efficiency to the overall experience, especially considering how often people want quick answers to questions.

So far, it sounds pretty similar to other CRM platforms. But how does it compare to other major players in the industry, such as SalesForce? Keep reading to see what sets HubSpot apart.

Is CRM a relational database?

If you've ever taken a Database class, you'll probably remember that relational databases are divided into three categories: tabular, networked model, and object-oriented models. Although relational databases typically require coding skills to work properly, HubSpot falls under the latter category. That said, while HubSpot is primarily coded in Java, it relies heavily upon MySQL. Since HubSpot works differently compared to regular relational databases, I won't get deep enough into explaining how it differs here. However, what HubSpot lacks in programming power, it makes up for in usability. Because it isn't coded like normal relational databases, it can be updated quickly by non-technical individuals. On top of that, it provides simple visual representations for complex queries. Most importantly, however, is that unlike typical relational databases, HubSpot takes advantage of Big Data techniques. As HubSpot states, "The way HubSpot was built allowed us to take full advantage of large amounts of historical data."

In other words, HubSpot uses analytics to improve future decisions made on the basis of past events. Basically, HubSpot keeps statistics on various aspects of its community members' behavior and usage patterns. From there, it analyzes trends and figures out optimal ways to serve its users better. By doing so, HubSpot saves time spent trying to figure out solutions on one client at a time.



Is HubSpot a SQL?

As discussed earlier, HubSpot utilizes a different structure than typical relational databases. And although it's mainly written in Java, it runs on Linux machines equipped with Apache Tomcat 7.5. Therefore, HubSpot requires a server that supports Java Servlet API 2.0 specifications. Additionally, it must run on a Unix operating system, including Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, SCO/Linux, SVR4, Tru64 UNIX, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, OSF/1, MacOS X Server / Darwin, and Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7.

Although it might seem difficult to understand why anyone would choose to purchase such a complicated piece of equipment, HubSpot believes that it can provide savings worth paying for a powerful machine. After thinking long and hard about whether or not to invest in a high-powered server setup or a cheaper alternative, HubSpot found that the former provided greater savings during the initial phase of development. Nowadays, both options cost roughly $800/month for standard packages. Of course, the price varies depending on the number of concurrent users, the amount of traffic generated daily, and the size of the team.

Furthermore, HubSpot's database is structured quite differently from traditional ones. When creating tables, rows, and columns, HubSpot considers several factors, such as performance, scalability, and security. To ensure consistency throughout its entire ecosystem, HubSpot employs IDEs (Integrated Development Environments), version control, automated testing frameworks, and continuous integration. With this combination of features, HubSpot builds reliable products faster than its competitors.

Is HubSpot a cloud based CRM?

When speaking of cloud computing, HubSpot refers to its hosting environment as "cloud". Since HubSpot hosts everything remotely, it's considered a cloud application. However, unlike most companies, hubspot doesn't charge extra for additional bandwidth or disk space. Instead, it charges users monthly fees according to the amount of resources consumed. For instance, a new user will only pay approximately $30/month after his free trial expires, regardless of how much he actually consumes.

Additionally, HubSpot doesn't limit its services to specific geographical locations. Rather, it lets users connect anywhere around the world. Furthermore, it maintains a strict privacy policy to protect sensitive personal information. Lastly, HubSpot guarantees uptime and 24x7 support for its customers. Even if the rest of HubSpot fails, its database remains available.

Does HubSpot collect data?

The first question most users will ask when they see HubSpot listed among other popular CRMs is "What kind of data do I get?" When choosing a new CRM system, it's important to understand what you'll need out of it before signing up — and HubSpot definitely delivers.

As a customer engagement tool, HubSpot collects basic info like name, phone number, address, gender, birthday, interests, education level, job title, and employer. You'll also find details on previous purchases, transactions, subscriptions, and more. But if you use HubSpot for more than just email campaigns and promotions, then you may want to check out the advanced fields you receive by default once you start creating accounts. These include things like mobile numbers, email addresses, LinkedIn profiles, and personal websites.

If you don't mind sharing that much information, you could opt into additional modules like Contact Management & Marketing Automation, Social Media Integration, or InMail to add even more detail to your profile. Or you might not care about collecting certain types of data at all -- especially useful if you already use Google Contacts for emailing friends and family. For example, HubSpot doesn't require you to enter credit card numbers or signup for recurring payments, both of which would cause security problems. So if privacy isn't a concern for you, consider going premium.

But beware, HubSpot does allow third parties to request user data via our API, meaning someone else could potentially gain access to sensitive account info if you forget to turn off two factor authentication. This is why it's always good practice to enable 2FA whenever possible.

While HubSpot uses cookies to track site usage, these aren't used specifically to identify individual users. Instead, they help improve performance over time. However, you should still choose to clear your browser cache regularly to prevent tracking cookies from being stored on your machine. By doing this, users won't be tracked across devices while browsing the same sites within HubSpot.

Finally, HubSpot doesn't store passwords locally anywhere. We generate secure random tokens instead, because online credentials shouldn't ever be saved on local servers.

Does HubSpot own your data?

It sounds strange, but no -- HubSpot doesn't actually take ownership of your data once you create an account. That said, HubSpot does share your data with partners, advertisers, affiliates, and others, though. So depending on how often you plan to interact with promotional materials from HubSpot, whether you want to advertise yourself on Facebook, or if you'd simply like to leverage the app's analytic capabilities, HubSpot may make sense for you.

That said, you retain control over who sees what data, and HubSpot provides full disclosure regarding exactly what kinds of information it shares. It's worth reviewing the Data Sharing section of HubSpot's Privacy Policy [Broken URL Removed] page to figure out if the amount of data HubSpot takes from you personally outweighs the benefits of using the service.

For instance, if you don't really trust anyone outside of your immediate team, perhaps you wouldn't feel comfortable letting them look at your contacts list or calendar. And if you're worried about losing control over your email inboxes and documents, then HubSpot Secure Messaging lets you send messages directly from your desktop.

How does HubSpot pull company information?

One reason HubSpot became popular was due to the fact that it allowed small business owners to build custom solutions around a preconfigured application. Unlike other providers that offer limited customization options, HubSpot allows users to customize every aspect of their experience. Whether you want to adjust colors, change fonts, upload logos, or otherwise tweak your branding, you can do so easily.

This makes everything easier for users without coding skills, plus it helps boost productivity by cutting down on wasted time spent hunting for specific settings.

However, if you do have programming knowledge, you could also integrate various APIs with HubSpot to automate tasks like pulling data from external sources. A good place to start is HubSpot's Developer Center [Broken Link Removed], where you can browse existing integrations and write your own code to accomplish almost anything.

In addition, HubSpot integrates seamlessly with Slack, allowing employees to communicate using whichever messaging service they prefer. Your colleagues can chat with you inside of emails, group chats, or private channels, all from within HubSpot itself. This gives you a central location to monitor conversations, respond quickly to issues, and generally stay organized.

Lastly, HubSpot offers robust analytics tools that show insights into traffic trends, conversion rates, and leads generated. Users can view reports on overall activity levels, visits from particular regions or countries, and more.

You can also set goals for monthly revenue targets, client acquisition counts, and total leads/contacts managed. Then, you can review real-time metrics alongside historical graphs to spot patterns and opportunities for improving efficiency. Like many other CRMs, HubSpot includes dashboards designed to simplify reporting.

Is HubSpot GDPR compliant?

HubSpot has taken pains to ensure compliance with regulations surrounding consumer protection and data privacy. As part of this effort, HubSpot started offering DAA+ certified services earlier this year, which guarantees strict adherence to European Union standards.

Accordingly, HubSpot now requires that all users register with their legal names, birthdates, and national IDs, along with consent to processing of their data for targeted ads. Customers must also provide proof of identity during onboarding.

On top of that, HubSpot follows best practices for protecting against unauthorized access by requiring strong login credentials. Specifically, each registered user receives a unique password that changes frequently -- usually daily -- and never expires. Only authorized members of staff can reset or retrieve these codes. Lastly, data transmitted by users through HubSpot is encrypted to protect against eavesdropping attempts.

A lot of people are still unfamiliar with what "database" means or how it's different from other types of software. For example, you might be familiar with using Excel spreadsheets for tracking personal data like contacts, but would you know that there are better ways to do this than just writing down numbers in cells on sheets of paper?

In short, databases can store information about many things -- and by extension, so can business applications like HubSpot. But if you're not sure exactly which kind of database HubSpot uses, then read on!

The difference between a spreadsheet and a database isn't always clear-cut, but when we talk about application programs, such as HubSpot, they often refer specifically to one type of database called a relational database. So let's take a look at some common questions surrounding relational databases.

What database does HubSpot use?

We won't go into too much detail here because HubSpot has an entire article explaining their unique architecture, but suffice it to say that HubSpot is based on Microsoft Access. This doesn’t mean that all parts of the program run under the hood though — only certain features require access to the backend database.

For instance, the Contact Management tab inside of HubSpot lets users input new contacts, view existing ones, send emails to customers, etc., while the Dashboard shows statistics, graphs, charts, reports, etc. The main reason why these two tabs exist separately is to improve performance and speed.

HubSpot also provides API tools for developers who wish to integrate third party apps into the platform themselves. In addition to letting users sync email accounts, social media profiles, calendars, task lists, and more, the HubSpot API allows companies to build custom workflows. These include everything from marketing automation to CRM.

So although most end users don't need to worry about having direct access to the underlying database used by HubSpot, it's important to understand how the system works overall. That way, you'll know where to find help when you encounter problems.

Does HubSpot use SQL?

Yes, HubSpot uses SQL (Structured Query Language) databases. If you've ever done any sort of research online, chances are good that you've come across terms like MySQL or PostgreSQL before. And if you're wondering whether those names are related, yes, they are. Both are forms of SQL.

SQL stands for Structured Query Language, and was developed to make accessing large amounts of structured data easier. It's similar to commands found in Google Sheets, except instead of taking input directly from users, it accepts instructions via queries.

This is especially useful for businesses that deal heavily with customer data like HubSpot. You could write a query to pull specific kinds of details, like number of purchases made within the past week, average order value per transaction, and more.

But did you know that even nontechnical professionals can actually create their own customized database tables using templates provided by HubSpot itself? Or that you can import prebuilt databases created elsewhere into HubSpot? There are plenty of reasons why someone may choose to use HubSpot over another enterprise solution.

Here are a few examples of SQL statements:

Selecting rows containing duplicate values for a given column:

SELECT DISTINCT [column] FROM table_name WHERE [criteria]

Retrieving multiple columns at once:

SELECT [field1], [field2],... FROM table_name

Updating entries stored in a particular field:

UPDATE table SET [field] = 'value' WHERE id=1234

Deleting entries from a database:

DELETE FROM table_name WHERE [criteria]

As mentioned earlier, HubSpot uses a relational database model rather than a traditional flat file approach like most desktop databases. Relational databases allow users to organize data logically by creating relationships between various fields.

Let's say you had a list of five different phone numbers associated with one person. With a relational database structure, you'd be able to quickly add additional attributes to each entry, like first name, last name, address, birthday, gender, marital status, credit card info, and more.

Relational databases aren't limited to storing just text — they support anything that fits well into logical groups. So in addition to being great for organizing complex numerical data, they're ideal for keeping track of photos, documents, videos, audio files, webpages, notes, contacts, calendar events, tasks, receipts, invoices, project plans, and basically any other piece of content imaginable.

Since HubSpot stores tons of sensitive user information, it encrypts all communications sent through the network. However, if necessary, you can opt to disable encryption entirely.

Just remember that unencrypted communication leaves room for potential snoopers to intercept messages. When dealing with highly confidential information, you should never completely trust public networks.



Is HubSpot a relational database?

Absolutely! HubSpot is considered a relational database since it utilizes SQL and follows standard rules of organization inherent to the relational database concept. Although HubSpot originally started off as a simpler product focused primarily on lead capture pages, it now offers dozens of modules designed to handle every aspect of running a successful business.

It was built around the idea that you shouldn't necessarily reinvent the wheel when building something as basic as a website. Instead, focus on making the experience smooth and easy for both visitors and employees alike. Once you've got a solid foundation, you can start adding functionality later on.

What is SQL HubSpot?

Before moving forward, it's helpful to define exactly what SQL is. As stated above, SQL stands for Structured Query Language, and it was developed to perform operations on sets of structured data. Since relational databases are inherently organized according to strict guidelines, the language makes them very efficient at processing a variety of requests.

Although HubSpot supports several programming languages, including Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, NodeJS, C#, and JavaScript, the majority of the codebase runs on SQL commands written in T-SQL.

T-SQL is a special dialect of SQL intended for working with data warehouses and servers. While normal SQL deals with individual client records, T-SQL operates on larger batches of data.

When looking at HubSpot's source code, you'll see lots of functions operating on objects known as collections, typically represented by brackets { }. Collections contain multiple records stored together, and are usually grouped by category. They're similar to arrays in other programming languages.
