How do I delete my LinkedIn account if I forgot my password and email?

This isn't something that most people think about until they suddenly find themselves unable to log back onto their account – especially since they don’t remember their password either. If you try signing in using just your name (or part of your name), you won’t be able to do anything because LinkedIn will tell you that “this person doesn’t exist anymore.”

But luckily, you should still be able to get into your account by entering your email address and clicking on Forgot Password. Once you do this, you’ll receive a link that allows you to reset your password via text message.

After doing this, click on Login from Here and enter your new password. You’ll then be asked to confirm that you really did lose control of your account. When you do, you’re free to start making changes to your settings once again.

Can I recover my old LinkedIn account?

Yes, you absolutely can! The good news is that you can easily restore access to your account after losing it due to forgetting your password. All you need to do is follow these general steps:

Go to www.linkedin.com/support/. From there, select Signing In & Security " Recover Your Account.

Once you arrive at the page where you can choose your reason for needing to retrieve your account information, simply make sure that you check the box next to Change My Profile Information. Then fill in the form with your current email address and password and hit Submit.

You must now wait 24 hours before LinkedIn emails you again, asking whether or not you'd like to continue with the process. At this point, you can also decide to opt-out of future notifications. However, there are times where users will lose their password, forget their username/password combination or simply stop using the service altogether. This means that they won't be able to log back onto their account or update any information about themselves. It also makes finding out how to reset your password much more difficult than usual because you don't know your username and you may not even remember the answer to your security question.

Fortunately, you can still easily log into your LinkedIn account without knowing either of those things. If you're struggling to figure out how to do so then keep reading below to discover why it's necessary for you to be able to access your LinkedIn account.

You Can Still Log In Without Knowing Your Username Or Password

The good news is that you can always log into your LinkedIn account from another device, such as a phone or tablet, which allows you to bypass the issue completely.

To do so, open up a browser window (e.g., Chrome) on one of these devices and go to https://www.linkedin.com/. Once redirected, enter your credentials and press Enter. You should now see an option saying "Log in" at the top right corner of the screen.

Alternatively, you can try accessing it through mobile browsers by opening up the LinkedIn app before entering your details. Doing so will allow you to take advantage of the quick-login feature provided by the company. Just tap on the three dots menu button located near the bottom left corner of the page and select Quick Login.

What Should I Do When I Forget My Passcode?

You may still be able to retrieve the information that was stored with your account by following these steps. If you are struggling to get back into your account, then this article will provide some tips on what to look for when trying to fix any problems with your profile. 

Why can't I log into my LinkedIn account?

There are many reasons why someone might lose their LinkedIn password. It could be due to an expired security question, incorrect answer, or even just plain forgetfulness. Once you've determined which of those scenarios applies to you, you'll need to try one of two methods to restore access.

The first method requires you to use your mobile device since most people tend to store their passwords on their phones. The second involves using a web browser instead of your smartphone app because sometimes your phone’s browser isn't set to remember the last website you visited.

To start off, we recommend resetting your password via your iPhone. This will erase all data from your phone and allows you to create a new password without having to deal with remembering anything else about your old account.

Once you're logged onto your phone, head over to Settings " Passwords & Security " Your Account (if you don't see this option, go ahead and tap Sign In). From here, scroll down until you find Password Recovery under Reset My Password. Tap Next and enter your current email address to confirm your identity. Then choose between a link sent to your inbox or text message. After selecting your preferred option, follow the prompts to complete the process.

Now that your phone is ready, let's take another approach. Open up the same settings page again, but this time, select Web Browser as your chosen method for changing your password. Log in with your current email address, and then make sure to click Remember Me next to Set New Password so you won't accidentally change it later.

Next, open up a different browser window on your computer, like Chrome or Safari. Go to www.linkedin.com/uasettings/password-recovery and log in with your current email address. Follow the instructions provided to verify your identity before being taken through the rest of the process.

Once you reach the final step, you should receive a confirmation code within 24 hours. Enter this code at the top right corner of the screen after clicking Confirm. Now, simply type in your desired password and confirm it once more in order to finish restoring access to your LinkedIn account.

You should now be able to view everything associated with your account such as your Profile Summary, Network Updates, Connections, Messages, etc., along with other features like Groups and Company Pages. However, you cannot edit anything unless you know the original email address used during signup. For instance, if you changed your name and want to update it, you'd need to contact support@linkedin.com in order to request a replacement verification code. Lost Login Credentials – When signing up for an account, you must supply both your email address and password. Unfortunately, sometimes people end up forgetting the latter when attempting to log in. So they never realize it's gone until they try to connect their Facebook or Twitter account to their LinkedIn profile.

Security Questions – These questions are meant to prevent others from accessing your account, especially if you share a similar name with someone else. Sometimes people forget to fill them in correctly, thus rendering them useless.

Email Change – If you decide to switch ISPs, change jobs, or move somewhere new, you’ll likely need to inform LinkedIn of this change. Otherwise, your account remains locked indefinitely while they continue to send emails requesting your updated details.

Account Termination – Even though you deleted your account yourself, LinkedIn doesn’t necessarily delete it immediately. Instead, they wait 30 days before deleting your profile entirely. During this period, anyone looking for contacts with your name will come across your former profile.

This means that LinkedIn has decided to suspend your account temporarily, usually for violating company policies. Usually, this occurs whenever users post spammy content, engage in abusive behavior towards other members, violate terms of service, or even attempt to sell products.

Another solution would involve contacting LinkedIn directly. Head over to www.linkedinhelponline.com then select Request Technical Assistance. A helpful agent should walk you through the entire procedure, including troubleshooting any potential errors.

Last resort would be calling 1-888-868-7800. There, you'll be connected to a live person who can solve any problem related to your LinkedIn profile. Note that some agents only understand English, however, so your best bet would be choosing a language you feel comfortable speaking in.

After receiving technical assistance, you'll be asked whether you require additional help. If yes, you will be given the opportunity to chat with a human agent who can help repair any damage caused by your previous attempts to log in.

Unfortunately, these options aren’t ideal for everyone. If you prefer not to rely on tech support, consider creating extra passwords for each individual device you own. That way, if something goes wrong, you can easily revoke access to your LinkedIn account. And if you ever forget your password, simply generate a fresh one.

But firstly let's talk about why the issue happened in the first place – because sometimes things go wrong when they shouldn't!

Why is my LinkedIn app not working?

If you're seeing an error message like "Sorry something went wrong" when trying to open the LinkedIn app on Android or iPhone, there could be several reasons why this has occurred. The most common one is that you've forgotten your password. This is especially likely if you haven't used your LinkedIn account in a while as you may now need to input it each time you wish to view your activity feed or make changes to your settings.

You can easily work around this by using Google Chrome's incognito mode which will save all your data locally rather than sending everything across to the cloud. Once logged in via Chrome, simply click the Profile icon (top right) and choose Settings & Privacy from the drop-down menu. Choose Incognito Mode and hit Save Changes at the bottom of the window. Your browser will remember your preferences and any saved passwords as long as Chrome isn't closed.

Alternatively, you can clear your cookies on other browsers too, although this won't necessarily prevent your LinkedIn login details being sent off to their servers. To do this, head to the Network tab in your web developer console (you'll see it under F12 in Firefox and Cmd + Shift + J/CMD + Option + J/CTRL + Opt + J in Safari), scroll down until you find the entry labelled 'connected.linkedin' and delete the entry. We recommend doing this every few days as this process does cause some disruption to your browsing experience.

Another reason you might encounter difficulties logging onto your LinkedIn account is that the company has changed its security procedures. In particular, if you signed up before 2013, you'll have probably received an e-mail confirming your new password. However, since 2013, LinkedIn has introduced two-factor authentication, meaning your LinkedIn ID and password aren't enough to gain access to your profile.

The good news here is that it's simple to re-enable 2FA by visiting the Security page on your LinkedIn website, clicking Login Options and selecting Turn On Two Factor Authentication. Then follow the prompts to enter your mobile device code and confirm your choice.

Now that you've cleared your cookies and turned on 2FA, the next thing you'll want to do is create another strong password. It's worth remembering that your current password can be found within the URL of your LinkedIn home page. So, if you visit https://www.linkedin.com/uas/security/resetPassword?token=<your token>, you can copy and paste it straight into the box below.

Once you've done this, head over to the Change Password section of the Account Details screen and select Reset Password. Enter your chosen new password twice, then hit Continue. Now you can enjoy using LinkedIn once more!

As well as the above options, you can also request a second form of verification from your recruiter. For example, you might receive a text message containing a six digit pin code and a four letter word, both of which must be entered correctly in order to unlock your account.

How do I recover my LinkedIn username and password?

It's rare that you'd lose access to your LinkedIn account completely, but if you did happen to forget your user name and password, you can quickly retrieve them by contacting Customer Support directly. Simply fill out the following form on their site and a member of staff will contact you shortly afterwards.

In addition to providing customer assistance, LinkedIn provides support for developers who would like to integrate third party services such as social media tools into their apps. Contacting these experts allows you to connect your own accounts to theirs, allowing you to share information between your various profiles. These include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, YouTube, SoundCloud, Flickr, Vimeo, FourSquare, Flickr and many others.

Some companies offer employees incentives to join LinkedIn including free food and drink vouchers, cash bonuses and even holidays. But if you don't fancy going through the hassle of applying for a job and waiting for your CV to land somewhere, you can always apply for a position yourself. Just head to the Careers page and search for vacancies by industry, location or keyword.

There is currently only one option available for UK residents: LinkedIn Jobs. It works much like regular job boards, except that instead of searching for jobs based on keywords, you filter results according to whether they require applicants to hold specific qualifications. As far as we can tell, this service doesn't appear to exist elsewhere in Europe.



Can I get my old LinkedIn account back?

Unfortunately, unless you've made a mistake or accidentally deleted your profile entirely, there's little chance you'll ever be able to reclaim ownership of your former account. Even if you still had access to your original credentials, deleting your account wouldn't mean LinkedIn was forced to return the data it holds. Instead, it would continue to store the information in case you returned later on and wanted to resume using your profile.

However, if you really miss your old LinkedIn account and feel compelled to recreate it, you may be able to restore it using your existing credentials. Simply create a new account with a different email address and set a temporary password. Then send a link to your friend or colleague asking them to add you to their LinkedIn network. When they approve your request, you'll automatically become part of their connection list, effectively bringing your older account back.

To avoid spamming people unnecessarily, you should ensure that you never provide your real email address during this step. Instead, ask them to reply to an automated message that contains a unique link that will allow you to reconnect. They should then forward this link to anyone else whom they think might benefit from using LinkedIn.

This method is effective due to the fact that LinkedIn uses IP addresses to identify individual users. That means that even though you can't actually read messages left behind on your previous profile, you can still track down the person responsible for adding you into their network. And if you were previously friends with them, chances are they'll accept the invitation anyway.

If you prefer, however, you can always try requesting permission to import your contacts from your old account. While this doesn't guarantee that you'll get full access to your entire network, it will give you access to everyone you knew beforehand. Of course, if you already have another LinkedIn account, you can skip ahead to the next question.

What if I'm not sure whose LinkedIn account it belongs to?

When you're first setting up your LinkedIn account, you're asked to pick a Username. After creating your profile, you can use this same identifier to refer to your account whenever needed. Unfortunately, if you're unsure who owns your old account, you may end up making mistakes along the way.

For instance, you might decide to add a colleague to your network, but mistakenly write their surname as Smith instead of Sowden. Or perhaps you're given a generic handle such as 'John Doe', leaving you wondering exactly who John Doe is.

If you suspect that your old profile belongs to someone else, you can use LinkedIn's Find Friends feature to check for duplicates. Click on the three dots button (the ellipsis symbol) located beside your Profile Name and click View Profile. From here you can either compare the names listed against your own, look for additional connections and invite them to connect.

Otherwise, you could always reach out to your ex-colleague and ask if he remembers you. If he does, you can explain that you have recently lost access to your LinkedIn account and ask him to transfer ownership to you. Alternatively, you may be lucky enough to come across his LinkedIn profile on accident. Either way, he should happily hand over his profile details to you.
