How many emails can you send at once with Office 365?

How many emails can you send at once with Office 365?

Microsoft's flagship office suite is the latest edition to Microsoft Office and boasts an impressive array of features that are easy-to-use, feature rich and above all compatible across platforms.

The most recent upgrade to this software includes new cloud technology which allows users to work on their documents anywhere via mobile devices or desktop computers.

When it comes to sending messages through your computer such as emails, attachments etc., each program will have its own limits. So what is Office 365's limit when it comes to emailing and why does it differ from other versions of Microsoft's main products like Word, Excel and PowerPoint?

While we're not sure if Microsoft officially states any kind of limit for sending emails using Outlook 365, our research has shown that there is indeed one. However, before we discuss whether Microsoft has placed a cap on the amount of times a user can use Outlook 365 to email, let's first take a look at some of the different types of mail services out there today so that you know exactly where Microsoft stands compared to these competitors.

There are three major players who provide free webmail accounts: Google (Gmail), Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail/Outlook.com. Each service differs slightly but generally speaking they offer similar functionality, including access to online storage space and photo galleries, calendars, contacts etc.. The biggest difference between them lies within their interface design. Gmail uses tabs while both Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail use icons. In addition, Hotmail offers more advanced features than either of those two sites. For example, if you want to add signatures to your outgoing mails then Hotmail lets you do just that whereas neither Yahoo! Mail nor Gmail allow for this.

With these differences in mind, let's now move onto discussing Microsoft's Outlook 365 limit when it comes to emailing. If you've been looking into buying Microsoft Office 2013, you may have noticed that unlike previous editions, it doesn't come with a built-in eMail client anymore. Instead, anyone who wants to use Outlook 365 must download the separate app called Mailbird [Broken URL Removed]. This application provides users with pretty much the same functionality as Outlook 365, except without having to pay anything extra for it. It also gives users greater control over their privacy settings by allowing them to choose which elements of their personal information they wish to share while keeping others private.

As far as I'm concerned, Mailbird makes good sense because it essentially acts as an extension to Outlook 365. Therefore, if you already use MS Office 365 for business purposes, it would make no sense to use another third party product instead. Since Mailbird is fully integrated into the overall ecosystem of Office 365, it automatically becomes part of your account too. What's more, since Mailbird works seamlessly alongside Office 365, you'll never need to worry about losing track of important tasks again. There's even a handy reminder system that reminds you every time you receive an incoming message. To top everything off, Mailbird provides users with unlimited inboxes meaning you won't ever run short of places to store your stuff.

So how did we get here? Well, despite the fact that Microsoft removed their original native Mail Client from Office 365 back in 2010, they still manage to maintain compatibility with almost all existing Windows operating systems. As mentioned earlier, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail all follow different icon based designs however, Microsoft decided to stick with theirs due to the fact that they had developed a loyal customer base who were used to seeing particular things done a certain way. Thus, in order to keep up with legacy programs, Microsoft chose to continue supporting older OS'es rather than trying to incorporate newer ones.

Now, moving on to Outlook itself, if you're wondering how many emails can be sent through it in a given day, the answer is actually quite simple. When it comes to Outlook 2007 onwards, there's no real restriction put upon the number of recipients you can address per message. It simply depends on the size of the file attached to said emails. And yes, you read correctly - files can only be sent if they contain text and images. Attachments larger than 50 MB cannot be sent. On the other hand, when it comes to sending messages via hotmail, yahoo! Mail and gmail the situation is somewhat different. Users of these services can theoretically send thousands of emails daily without breaking any rules. But remember, email providers often charge customers additional fees whenever they exceed certain thresholds set forth by them.

To help explain further, let me point out something interesting. While Outlook 365 is capable of sending emails containing large audio and video clips, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail don't support this function whatsoever. These companies claim that doing so could potentially harm their servers. Now this isn't really true as long as you use reputable hosting companies, though. Just note that if you plan on attaching huge media files to your emails then you should think twice about where you host your data.

In conclusion, Microsoft's Outlook 365 has a limit of being able to send to 10,000 recipients per day. A single email can be addressed to as many as 500 people, although you can increase this number by utilizing Microsoft's Smart Folder System. Also, bear in mind that you can only attach files smaller than 40MB to your emails unless you purchase Smart File Storage which costs $1.99 USD monthly subscription fee. Lastly, if you're planning on sending lots of emails to clients or friends or family members, try opening a shared mailbox and see if it suits you better. With a shared mailbox, everyone gets his or her own unique login name, password, spam filter preferences and signature box. You can easily create one yourself by going to "Account" menu option followed by "Manage my smart folders".

Hope this helps clear up some confusion! :)

I am confused regarding this question. Can someone please elaborate it. How many Emails can be sent through Outlook 365,Hotmail & Yahoo Email?

Thanks in advance....

You can send upto 5000 emails to each recipient through o365,hotmail and yahoo. If you are talking about outlook express version then i guess it might be limited to 2000.i dont think that outlook contains any limitations.

you can always refer to the following link :

How many emails can be sent from outlook in a day?

Hi Kailash. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn't yet released details on Outlook 365's email sending capabilities. Hence, we're unable to give you any specific answers. We hope that maybe they will consider releasing this info soon. Hope this helps. All the best! :)

Hii Sam,

It seems there is no limit on the number of emails Outlook 365 can handle. However, Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail imposes restrictions on the number of emails you can send per day.

For instance, Hotmail restricts the number of emails you can send to 25 per hour. Whereas, Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail impose restrictions depending on the type of content contained within your email. For instance, Gmail limits the attachment sizes to 2GB, 100MB, 3GB and 5TB respectively. Furthermore, Yahoo! Mail limits the total size of attachments to 1 GB, 200 MB, 4 GB and 20 TB per month. Finally, Hotmail limits the number of simultaneous downloads to five per IP address and ten per Premium subscriber.

Hope this clarifies things for you! :)

Thanks for sharing. Yes, I was aware of this. Thats why I asked specifically about Outlook 365. By the way, thanks for pointing out the differences. Its great to know these little tidbits of information. Keep 'em coming ;)

That's right. Although, it varies according to the provider. Most of them usually state a threshold somewhere around 250 to 300. If you're unsure, feel free to check the terms and conditions of whichever company you sign up for. Good luck!

Yes there is a limit to how many emails outlook can send. It is dependent on the size of the document you are attempting to upload.

If you are uploading a picture say then outlook will only accept a max of 64kb. If you attempt to send a vedio clip then outlook will only accept a max of 120 minutes. If you send multiple videos then outlook will only accept a max of 60mb combined.

It is dependent on the provider. Most of them usually state a threshold somewhere around 250 to 300. If you're unsure, feel free to check the terms and conditions of whichever company you sign up for. Good luck!

Hello,

This article says that Outlook 365 sends to 10000 recipients per day. Is it possible to send to more than 10000 emails per day? I mean, what happens if I write 3000 emails during the course of 24 hours? Will my account get suspended? Or will it go beyond 10000?

Thank you very much for answering my questions.

No problem. Glad I was able to clarify things for you.

All emails sent through Outlook 365 can be sent to upto 10000 recipients per day.

Microsoft's free productivity suite Office 365 is great for collaborating on documents and sharing files -- but it doesn't have the same flexibility when using its built-in messaging system.

Outlook messages are limited by their ability to reach an address that's too long or spread across multiple lines. If your recipient uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 (which supports up to 50,000 users), then this limit will apply to all versions of Outlook except for 2016 which supports 100,000 addresses. If they're part of Exchange Online, there's no such restriction.

If you want to get around these limits, here’s how…

How do I send more than 1000 emails in Outlook?

This depends on whether you use Windows Live Mail (WL) or Outlook, so make sure you know where each service stands before proceeding further. WL is still available to download from Microsoft Store if needed, while Outlook isn't yet supported in Chrome OS.

If you're using Outlook 2010 through 2016:

You'll need to enable "Compact View" first. Head to File & Options & Compose menu options and check Compact view box under Quick compose section. Then click OK. This should open the message window without any scrollbars. You may also like to change the font size via Tools & Font Size option.

Once this is done, try composing another message. It shouldn't take much space, even though we've enabled compact view. To see what happens when the cursor moves beyond the right edge of the screen, simply start typing some random text into the subject line.

It won't let us write anything else until the entire sentence fits within one line. We could probably fit two sentences (as shown above) if we add enough spaces between them, but after that point it just keeps scrolling down.

To disable compact view again, head back to the original settings mentioned earlier and uncheck the Compact View box.

Now, when writing new message(s), you can go ahead and fill out everything you'd normally type. The only issue is going to occur whenever someone replies to our email. When they reply, the full message appears instead of taking advantage of the shortened version of the previous message in the thread.

The best way to fix this would be to find a different client app altogether, unless you plan on sending thousands upon thousands of emails over time.

Alternatively, you can switch clients entirely to Gmail's web interface. In my experience, Google Drive's mobile apps work better overall than those offered by other services. Plus, since most people already use Gmail anyway, it makes sense to stick to one ecosystem rather than switching between several.

On a side note, it's worth mentioning that there are numerous third party tools that offer similar functionality to Office 365. Some examples include Mailsmith [No Longer Available] ($50 per year) and Gmelius Mail Merge Service ($25).

Using Outlook on the web:

As previously stated, Outlook won't allow us to exceed 10,000 characters in length in quick mode. However, we can bypass this somewhat by utilizing the @me auto responder feature. Here's how you set it up:

1. First off, create a new mail account specifically for this purpose. Don't worry about spamming because it's completely automated and tied to a specific email ID.

2. Open your browser's developer console and paste the following code onto it:

3. Now, refresh your page every few minutes and watch the magic happen! As soon as you hit enter, a new automatic response gets created. All you have to do now is customize it slightly according to whatever information you wish to provide to your contacts.

4. Use whichever method suits you best - either copy-paste a bunch of prewritten responses or manually input data yourself. Just remember not to put any links in there otherwise they might break.

5. Once you're satisfied, save the file somewhere safe. Make sure anyone who accesses the script knows never to edit it or tamper with any of the content therein.

Just keep refreshing the page periodically until you run out of responses.

6. That should cover pretty much all bases. Of course, the downside to doing things this way is that you'll have to wait 5 minutes every time you refresh the page. But hey, sometimes life is unfair.

How many emails can I send in Outlook at once?

There are ways to circumvent both restrictions listed above, but perhaps you don't feel comfortable doing so. Thankfully, there are plenty of alternatives that allow you to overcome these limitations.

One popular alternative is Thunderbird 3.0+, which was recently updated to support multi-threading. With this update, sending messages became significantly faster compared to older versions. Unfortunately, Thunderbird hasn't been maintained since 2014 meaning that it's prone to crashing.

A safer bet would be Postbox Express Edition [Broken URL Removed]. It offers unlimited simultaneous threads and messages in general, plus lots of useful features including customizable signatures, spell checking, tabbed conversations, etc.

For example, if you wanted to send 2000 emails at once, you could follow the steps outlined below. Note however that there is a slight delay between creating new messages due to formatting issues. Also, this requires installing Postbox on your own machine.

Download: Postbox Express Edition | $20 USD / Year

Note: There's currently a 30% discount running on paid subscriptions, valid till June 22nd 2017.

How can I send 1000 emails?

We covered sending 1,000 emails at once above. If you want something more sophisticated, look no further than Zapier. They specialize in connecting various applications together. One of their recent offerings allows you to automate tasks performed by Zapier itself, thereby allowing you to perform complicated operations with ease.

In essence, it works exactly like Thunderbird does. Whenever you press Send, Zapier sends an email to whoever needs receiving said email. Using Zapier means that you won't have to mess with complex scripts or install additional software packages. Everything takes care of itself.

Zapier charges a monthly fee based on volume of requests processed. For simple actions like sending emails, you pay $9.99 per month. Higher volumes require higher fees.

Here's how you connect Zapier to Outlook:

Head over to zapier.com and sign up for a trial subscription.

Click on Create New Workspace and choose Connectors.

Select Email Sender from the list of connectors. Click Next.

Choose Microsoft Office 365 Business Premium E5 Plan. Select Next.

Enter your login credentials. Finally, select Finish Signup.

That's it. Your workspace is ready to rock. Feel free to test it out by pressing Send button in Outlook. If everything goes smoothly, Zapier should automatically notify you when you become eligible for renewal.

How can I send more than 1000 emails?

Unfortunately, Zapier cannot help you achieve this feat directly. Their maximum capacity lies elsewhere. However, you can get close by employing a workaround technique called batch processing. Basically, this involves performing repetitive tasks by adding a small amount of logic to them.

Batch processing can come in handy for automating processes that involve large amounts of text. So, why not use it to send bulk mails? Let's say you want to send emails to 5000 randomly selected customers. Instead of opening Excel, copying cell values, pasting them into a template, and hitting Enter, wouldn't it be easier to do it using a macro?

First, design a VBA project in Visual Basic Editor. Then insert this piece of code:Sub Main()Dim iRowOffset As Integer Dim oExcelApp Dim sSqlStringEnd Sub ''''Randomize Row Offset Const ROW_OFFSET = 25 End Const '''Set Object variable to reference excel application Set excellibapp = GetObject("C:\Program Files\Microsoft Officeoot\office16\excel.exe") 'Create SQL statement SELECT TOP 5000 * FROM tblCustomers WHERE CustomerName LIKE """"'" & InputBox("Customer Name",, False) & """"'" SET rsltcustomers= CurrentDB.OpenRecordSource ("SELECT * FROM tblCustomers ORDER BY RANDOM()) Do While Not Rsltcustomers.EOF DO MsgBox ("Successfully added customer #" & Int((Rsltcustomers.RecordCount + ROW_OFFSET)/5000)) Rsltcustomers.MoveNext Loop Wend end sub

Save the file as a.vbs document. Copy-pasting the code is optional, although recommended if you intend on making changes later on. Next, navigate to Zapier Dashboard and select Batch Process. Choose Execute Python Script. Under Settings, ensure that Run custom module contains vbscript.py. Lastly, configure your parameters.

Input your desired number of rows and columns. Leave the rest blank. Press Submit. Repeat this process as often as you desire.

What if you want to send emails to hundreds of thousands of people? Well, unfortunately Zapier's current API is unable to handle such workloads. Fortunately, you can always fork out $300 and purchase premium credits to increase the number of subscribers allowed on your account.

There are some limitations when it comes to sending large amounts of emails from Microsoft's cloud-based productivity suite -- in particular the ability to send an unlimited number of messages for all users on your Exchange Server or Office 365 account.

The maximum is capped at around 10,000 emails sent daily and there isn't much flexibility about what size those emails might be (it will always be one message). In addition, if you're running multiple mailboxes within your domain that have their own limits then these combined could easily exceed this limit. But how do you know exactly how many emails you can send each month? Here's everything you need to know.

Can Office 365 send bulk emails?

As mentioned above, the total amount of emails that you can send within any given time period from Office 365 depends on the plan you choose. If you only want to use the free version of Office 365, you'll be limited to 1 GB worth of space. This means that you cannot attach more than 100 files to an email, nor can you insert images larger than 2 MB into the body of the email. If you purchase Office 365 ProPlus, you get 5 TB of OneDrive storage but still only receive 250 emails per calendar month. The company also offers its enterprise customers 50 PB of Azure Storage.

One thing to note is that while you may not see this limit listed anywhere directly, it does mean that the sender address must remain unique. For example, if you were trying to contact 5000 people who had signed up to something via MailChimp, you would find yourself unable to send out more than 20 email addresses because they'd become part of the same group. Similarly, if you wanted to create two different mailing lists in Campaign Monitor, you couldn't just duplicate the first name and surname without breaking things because both names appear together.

If you're looking to send thousands of emails every week, we wouldn't recommend purchasing Office 365 Business Essentials which caps off at 200 emails per user/mailbox/month. You should look elsewhere unless you're planning on doing so infrequently.

In terms of whether you can send mass emails through Office 365 itself, yes you can! To do so, head to File " Options " Trust Center " E-Mail Options and tick Send e-mails internationally. That said, most services such as Google Apps etc. don't allow you to send bulk emails themselves due to spamming laws. It's best to use them as normal instead.

How many emails can Office 365 send at once?

It used to be the case that Office 365 allowed for unlimited simultaneous messages to be sent by each mailbox owner, however this changed sometime between 2013 and 2014. Now, unlike Gmail where the default setting allows for 100 concurrent sends, Office 365 only permits five.

You can change this on the individual mailbox level though. Head to File " Account " Settings " Email " Sending Limits. Once here make sure that Limit concurrent sends is set to 0.

Note: This option was removed as far back as November 2016. We've reached out to Microsoft for clarification on why it was introduced and received no response. As such, it seems safe to say that the feature won't return.

Can I send bulk emails using Outlook?

Outlook doesn't impose any restrictions on the number of emails that you can send simultaneously. However, like other online tools, you may well find that your provider places a cap on the number of messages that you can send. Some providers include a warning that this limit may soon increase to 30 emails per hour.

We contacted several major providers including Apple iCloud, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Zoho Mail asking if they planned to raise this limit in future. Of those companies only Hotmail replied saying that they hadn't yet decided to implement changes.

So, it looks likely that even if you're a heavy Outlook user, you shouldn't notice too big a difference depending on which service you use.

For example, with Yahoo Mail, clicking Send & Receive opens the following dialogue box:

And with iCloud, it reads:

That said, you can check your current settings by heading to View " Message options " Advanced tab " Maximum number of outgoing messages.

With regards to Outlook specifically, after opening the app click More… next to Home ribbon " New Items " Delivery Optimization and select Configure delivery optimization. Then under Schedule run a test, enter 15 minutes and hit Test now. From the results window that pops up, scroll down until you come across Scheduled tests and expand it. Under Concurrent sends you'll see the current value displayed.

Can Outlook send 1000 emails?

Like other tools, it appears that providers will continue to bump up against their monthly quotas over time. While this usually happens gradually, occasionally it can happen overnight. So, we've asked leading providers if they intended to introduce stricter rules regarding the number of emails that could be sent in a 24-hour period. None responded.

However, there is evidence that Microsoft did intend to raise this limit before removing it entirely. Back in 2015, Reddit user u/joshua_paul posted screenshots showing that he had exceeded his monthly quota by 1350 emails. He wrote:

"I got a call today from my internet provider complaining that I seemed to be hitting the limit for emails for the past couple days."

He reported that he had been making three purchases at $1.25 per credit to boost his monthly quota. Those credits expired last year, meaning that his accounts were reset to the original limit.

Similarly, another Redditor noted that they surpassed their monthly limit by 975 emails earlier this year. They explained that they had purchased extra credits from Microsoft and their ISP. When they called their ISP to ask about the problem, they were told that Microsoft had raised the limit again since then.

Despite this, it's important to remember that most providers aren't going to go knocking on your door to tell you that your emails have crossed the line. Instead, keep an eye on your spending history and usage patterns. If you start seeing high traffic levels suddenly, particularly from known IPs, then take action sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, Microsoft will revisit this issue in the coming months and give us more clarity but it certainly makes sense that providers' monthly limits will rise over time. After all, we already live in an age where our inboxes constantly grow beyond capacity thanks to constant notifications and social media updates. What's worse, you never truly know when you'll encounter downtime.

Have you ever noticed your provider increasing their monthly limit during peak times? Or perhaps you regularly surpass it despite having made no additional requests? Tell us below.

UPDATE: May 2020, 3:37 p.m. GMT Added information regarding Microsoft's intentions to reduce monthly limits.
