What is the website for LinkedIn?

What is the website for LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is one of the most popular websites in the world. It's also one of the best ways to build and manage your career online. You can use it as both a social networking site where you connect with people who have similar interests and skills, plus as a job search tool where you upload your CV or apply for positions directly through the platform.

If you're looking to join LinkedIn but don't know which features are right for you, take this quick look at some of its key benefits. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in then read on!

Why is LinkedIn a good website?

1. A great place to find work

When was the last time you applied for a position without first checking out the company’s website? Chances are if they've got a presence on LinkedIn they'll probably have their own page there too, so it makes sense to start by browsing these pages before applying. There are many reasons why a company might want to advertise themselves on LinkedIn – it could just be because they think it will help them attract new talent, but it may well be down to more practical considerations such as wanting to reach existing employees and clients, or even publicising events. The point is that wherever possible, always check out the company's profile before submitting your CV.

2. Easy to share information

Once you've found a suitable employer, LinkedIn makes it easy to send over CVs and other documents via email. This means you can keep all of your details together in one convenient location when searching for or applying for a role. Plus, all your contact data is stored securely in the cloud rather than sitting on your computer - no need to worry about losing sensitive files either.

3. Free membership

It doesn't cost anything to create an account (although this does include access to premium features), nor does it require any payment to view profiles (unless you decide to upgrade). In fact, as long as you stay within the terms outlined in the 'Terms & Conditions' section, you can browse for free using your mobile device or desktop. You can also opt-out of seeing ads whenever you visit, although this won't prevent companies advertising on the main landing page.

4. An extensive database

The sheer volume of users on LinkedIn means employers can often find candidates much quicker than they would elsewhere. As well as being able to upload a CV straight away, you can also set up alerts for specific keywords, meaning you only receive messages relating to roles matching those criteria. And while LinkedIn isn't perfect, it still has plenty of potential uses beyond finding employment. For instance, it can be used to track down contacts and business partners, research competitors, discover industry trends, and expand your networks beyond your immediate circle of friends and family.

5. Connections galore

There's no shortage of things to do once you've signed up to LinkedIn. From keeping tabs on your connections' activities to sharing content, the possibilities really are endless. But perhaps the biggest benefit of joining the service is the ability to make valuable relationships based around shared interests and experiences. Not only will this increase your chances of getting hired, but it will also enable you to learn new skills faster and grow into a stronger employee.

6. Learn from others

As well as creating a personal profile to showcase yourself and your experience, you can also gain insight from experts in different fields. Whether it's advice on writing articles or tips on improving your job search techniques, you never know who you might meet on LinkedIn until you try. The platform offers lots of educational resources, including courses, certifications, webinars and podcasts, so you can learn whatever you choose.

7. Share ideas

While LinkedIn is primarily focused on connecting professionals and businesses across industries, anyone can post updates and ask questions, whether that's to discuss a project, offer feedback on services provided, or simply to chat about topics such as politics, sports, film, music etc. When you're ready to share your thoughts, you can always click Post Your Answer to launch a discussion thread.

8. Professional development tools

One of the major selling points of LinkedIn is its suite of apps and tools designed specifically for enhancing your productivity, boosting your creativity, increasing your visibility and helping you develop professionally. These range from simple functions like sending emails to multiple recipients at once, to more advanced options that provide extra functionality and better integration between various software programs.

9. Networking made easy

You can easily see who else is connected to you on LinkedIn and follow them if you wish. However, you should bear in mind that while following someone is fine in theory, it's not recommended practice due to privacy concerns. Instead, you should focus on building genuine relationships with individuals instead. After all, the whole point of LinkedIn is to improve your life outside of your working environment, and having strong ties with colleagues and peers helps achieve this goal.

10. Get paid to recommend skills

In addition to regular promotions, LinkedIn offers rewards for recommending relevant skills to people. This includes cash payments ranging from $25-$50 depending on the number of recommendations received, as well as entry into exclusive contests and competitions. Even though this may sound like a lot of money upfront, it could actually save you thousands in the long run thanks to the increased value of your skill set.

11. Add value to your resume

It goes without saying that one of the primary purposes of LinkedIn is to boost your career prospects. That said, adding value to your CV is another way to ensure you stand out among your competition. Not only will doing so show prospective employers you deserve the chance to impress them, but it will also help you to highlight the most important aspects of your background and achievements.

12. Boost your reputation

Being active on LinkedIn doesn't mean you need to become a full-time user. Indeed, there are plenty of ways to maintain a healthy level of activity without spending hours every day updating your status and answering comments. Simply visiting the page regularly, replying to queries and posting useful links and videos will go a long way towards letting you demonstrate your expertise.

13. Make new friends

Whether you're seeking inspiration or looking to form lasting bonds with fellow professionals, LinkedIn provides a fantastic opportunity to meet likeminded individuals. To make the most of this feature, you should aim to interact with everyone you come across – especially if you're trying to build a broader network.

14. Find mentors

Another excellent reason to join LinkedIn is to identify people in related fields whose opinions you respect. By reaching out to these individuals and asking for their guidance, you can learn from their wisdom and pick up some helpful hints along the way. Just remember that while it's perfectly acceptable to seek advice from people you already know, you shouldn't approach strangers unless you feel completely comfortable with the situation.

15. Stay informed

With news feeds and live discussions constantly updated, LinkedIn is an ideal platform to keep abreast of current affairs. Although it's mainly aimed at professionals, you can tailor your feed settings to suit your lifestyle. Alternatively, you can always turn off notifications entirely if you prefer.

16. Search for job vacancies

Although LinkedIn isn't exactly known for providing direct recruitment solutions, it does allow you to sift through hundreds of advertised positions. So, if you're looking for a new role, head over to the Careers tab and select Jobs Nearby to filter results according to your preferences. You can also narrow your searches further by selecting additional filters like Job Type, Location and Industry.

17. Take part in polls

On top of discussing issues in depth, LinkedIn hosts occasional polls on topical matters. Some of these are open to everybody, whereas others are restricted to certain groups. Either way, it's worth taking advantage of the opportunity to let your opinion be heard.

18. Gain exposure

A common misconception surrounding the site is that it's solely meant for professionals. While that's true to a degree, it hasn't stopped millions of non-professionals from signing up and getting involved. Anyone can submit a photo, update their bio and send invites, as well as participate in discussions and contribute to forums.

19. Use LinkedIn Learning

For those who aren't quite sure where to begin with LinkedIn yet, you can learn everything you need to know about the service by completing short courses on subjects like How to Write Articles, How to Conduct Effective Interviews and How to Create a Resume. Each course is taught by LinkedIn educators and comes complete with interactive quizzes and exercises.

20. Track your progress

To monitor your progress throughout the year, you can enter goals into the Goals column under Account Settings. Then, when you log in each week, you'll automatically see your weekly accomplishments reflected alongside your overall ranking.

21. Check out our handy guide

If you're still unsure about whether LinkedIn is the right choice for you, we've put together a concise overview explaining everything you need to know. Be warned, however, that this article contains affiliate links, so clicking any of these will result in us earning a small commission.

LinkedIn is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world today. With over 750 million users worldwide, it's easy to see why. The site has become a place where people go to connect professionally as well as build their personal networks.

If you're currently using LinkedIn to manage your career or just want to learn more about its features, then here are some quick tips that will help you take control of your online presence and start building relationships within your industry.

The first step towards managing your LinkedIn profile is finding out exactly which version of LinkedIn you have. You can check this by going to the top right corner of any page (the drop-down menu) and selecting Profile & Settings " About Me. This should open an information box showing you the current version number of the web platform you’re using, along with other details like whether you've upgraded recently. If you haven't done so yet, it might be worth checking if there are any updates available before upgrading.

Once you know what type of LinkedIn you have, you can navigate to the appropriate section of the site. For instance, if you have a Business Account, you'll need to use the business side of the site. On the main homepage of your profile, click My Experience & Education to view your education history and work experience history. Clicking either of these links opens another tab in your browser window containing all relevant information. If you only have one tab open at once, you can switch between them by clicking the X icon next to each tab title. You can also access both tabs in the same window by pressing F12 while viewing your profile.

In addition to accessing your profile pages, you can also log into your account using your email address and password. When logged in, you can make changes to your profile, such as adding photos, updating contact requests, sending messages and setting privacy options. To edit your public profile, head back to the home screen and select Edit Your Public Information. Once again, you can toggle between different views of your profile by clicking the icons beside each field.

If you have a Premium Membership, you can gain access to advanced tools to improve your visibility across the internet. These include customizing your cover photo, uploading videos, creating a company page and engaging with customers through customer support. As part of your Premium membership, you automatically receive a personalized domain name - e.g. johndoe.linkedin.com - that includes your full name and email address. In order to change your domain name, visit Get Started > Domains/Email Addresses.

To ensure that everyone knows who you are when they come across your profile, you may wish to add your LinkedIn URL to your resume. Head to Resume View to upload a new document. Select File Uploads from the left sidebar under New Documents & Forms. Choose Create Linked Resource (URL) from the list below. Next, paste your LinkedIn URL into the textbox provided. Finally, press Save.

You can also embed your LinkedIn URL onto your blog via Blogger using the Embed Code feature. Simply copy the code appearing underneath your LinkedIn profile image and insert it into your post. Alternatively, you could upload your LinkedIn profile directly to WordPress using our guide.

As mentioned previously, LinkedIn offers many premium services if you pay for a subscription. Some of the benefits include being able to send emails to contacts and seeing activity updates sent by others. There are three ways to subscribe to a service on LinkedIn. Firstly, you can choose to upgrade to Premium whenever you feel ready. Secondly, you can opt in to various paid offerings every time you update your profile. Lastly, you can join a group that requires payment to participate (more on this later).

One of the best things about LinkedIn is that it allows you to keep track of job openings, events and news related to your chosen fields. By signing up for alerts, you can stay informed about future projects and positions that interest you. It also provides you with access to exclusive content and resources not usually offered publicly. However, you won’t necessarily be notified immediately once something becomes available. Instead, LinkedIn sends notifications based upon the settings you set during registration.

There are two types of alerts – those relating to specific companies and those pertaining to general topics. Companies interested in hiring new employees, clients willing to expand their businesses and organizations looking to promote upcoming events can all create alerts. Meanwhile, anyone wanting to hear about interesting research papers or articles published by experts in their field can create alerts around certain keywords.

When a notification arrives, you must approve it before it appears on your timeline. To do this, simply hover over the alert and click Approve. If you don’t respond, the alert will expire after 24 hours. While you cannot stop individual alerts from popping up, you can turn off groups entirely. Go to Groups & Alerts and select Turn Off All Group Notifications. From now on, no alerts will appear on your feed unless you explicitly request them.

You can follow certain individuals on LinkedIn to keep up to date with their latest activities. To do this, click Followers on the left hand navigation bar. Then scroll down until you reach People You May Know. Here, you can search for profiles of people you would like to follow. Once found, you can click the heart icon above their profile picture to indicate that you'd like to follow them.

While following someone does allow you to see everything they share, you won't always be receiving notifications. Therefore, we recommend visiting their profile regularly to catch anything important. Another way to get involved in conversations about your interests is by joining groups. Similar to followers, you can browse groups that contain people with similar expertise as yourself. Just click Browse Groups from the left navigation bar to begin searching.

Groups are made up of several hundred participants and offer a great opportunity to discuss ideas and meet new connections. They often provide regular discussions and announcements about various subjects, making them ideal places to develop valuable skills and grow your network. You can search for groups by location, topic or even company size. After choosing a few potential groups, click Join Now. Enter your username, email address and password, then wait for approval to complete the process.

LinkedIn Learning is a series of courses designed to teach professionals essential skills ranging from project management to digital marketing. Available free of charge, you can earn credits by completing tasks assigned by course instructors. This means you can increase your chances of getting promoted faster and boosting your credibility among colleagues.

Once logged in, you can explore the vast array of courses available. Each class comes equipped with video tutorials and quizzes to test your understanding. You can also purchase additional material including books and certificates. Courses range in length from five minutes to six months, depending on the subject matter. You can find out more about the kinds of classes that exist by heading to Learn More.

LinkedIn Learning isn’t just limited to courses though. You can also read blogs written by expert authors to learn more about a particular area of study. Topics covered vary widely but include careers advice, leadership and communication techniques, networking tactics and much more.

Finally, if you’d rather talk face-to-face than communicate via email, you can arrange meetings with other LinkedIn members in person. To do this, head to Meetings & Events and enter your desired location, dates and times. A calendar will pop up displaying all possible meeting locations, with the most suitable ones highlighted. Click Search Nearby to narrow down your options further.

For most of us, LinkedIn is probably the largest social media platform. But did you know that it was originally created as a dating tool? Before it became a powerhouse in the workplace, LinkedIn used to encourage users to ‘find love’ by providing matchmaking functionality. Today, it caters to millions of active professionals across 200 countries. So if you think that LinkedIn is just a place to look for a job, think again! It’s actually a very useful tool for staying connected with old friends and acquaintances too. And if you’re still unsure of what to use it for, here are 9 reasons to try LinkedIn.

How do I find my LinkedIn website?

Where is my LinkedIn website?

My LinkedIn website is located at www.linkedin.com.

Simply highlight the URL of your LinkedIn profile in the text editor and hit Ctrl + C (or Command + C on Mac), followed by Ctrl + V to paste it into the body of your resume.

How do I find my LinkedIn URL without numbers?

Your LinkedIn URL doesn’t require any numbers. However, if you prefer to remove numbers from URLs, you can easily do so by replacing the first letter of your URL with a dash (-). E.g., instead of johnsmith123456789.com, you can write jmhjkdsa-asdfghjklmnpqrstuvwxyz.com.

Also known as a vanity URL, this method works particularly well if you plan to use the same URL throughout different websites, applications etc.

LinkedIn has 750 million+ members worldwide who use it as their online hub for connecting professionally, finding new job opportunities, building relationships and leveraging its massive database of information in order to find relevant contacts that might be able to help them reach other goals.

The platform is available across many devices including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones but most people access it via mobile apps on both iOS and Android. It can also be accessed through Facebook (which owns the company) so if you're not already using LinkedIn then there's no reason why you shouldn't start now! If you have used any of these platforms before then you'll know exactly where to go when you need to log into your profile again but if this is all news to you - here we will explain everything you need to know about getting started with LinkedIn.

What is the website called LinkedIn for?

It doesn’t really matter whether you call it a ‘website' or an 'app’ because they are very similar ways of accessing the same content so we've decided to refer to it as just being one big website unless otherwise stated. The best way to think of it would be like Google, which provides search engine results that anyone can view regardless of whether they are signed into their own personal accounts or not. You wouldn't expect to see Google results without having an active account so neither should you expect to see LinkedIn profiles without signing in. There are some exceptions however such as certain premium features or groups that require membership but generally speaking once you register and create a profile you won't miss out on anything important.

Is LinkedIn considered a website?

Yes, although it may look more like an app at first glance. When you visit LinkedIn you will probably notice the logo at the top right hand corner which reads "Log In" followed by "Sign Up". This shows you that you don't necessarily have to sign up in order to use the service. If you do choose to sign up though, you will automatically become part of the community and gain access to all of the benefits offered by the platform. Once you are logged in you will see links to different sections within the main menu bar along the left-hand side of the screen. These include Profile & Connections, Jobs, Groups and Settings. Each section contains a number of sub menus and buttons that allow you to navigate between pages, perform tasks and make changes to settings. For example clicking on Settings allows you to change privacy preferences, manage notifications and adjust your password strength requirements.

Is LinkedIn an app or website?

You could say that it is kind of both. Like I mentioned earlier, it is technically a website but it behaves a lot like an app. Most users interact with it using either web browsers or mobile apps so it can feel somewhat intuitive depending upon which device you are viewing it on. However, we recommend downloading the official LinkedIn App onto your smartphone if possible because it gives you instant access to your profile wherever you happen to be. On the other hand, if you prefer to keep things simple and aren't always near a computer or phone then you can still browse LinkedIn using your browser. Just remember to click Login instead of Sign Up whenever you want to access your profile details.

Is LinkedIn a social media site?

No, not quite! Although it does provide plenty of tools and features for sharing articles and photos, reading updates from friends and colleagues and even sending messages to others, it was never intended to function as a full blown social networking tool. Instead, it was designed to connect professionals around the world based on shared interests. As such, you will only ever meet someone if you share mutual connections. So while you will certainly come across people you might know already, you won't normally end up making actual friends until you add each other directly rather than going through a third party intermediary.

How to Get My LinkedIn URL From Linkedln App

Once you have created your LinkedIn account you can access your profile page by typing www.linkedin.com/profile/edit into your web browser or simply opening your LinkedIn App installed on your phone. At the bottom of the homepage you should see a button labelled "Profile". Clicking on this opens the Edit Profile page where you can edit various aspects of your profile, upload images, videos and documents and send emails to those you wish to contact. To learn more about editing your profile please follow our guide on How to Update Your LinkedIn Profile.

When you have finished updating your profile you will receive a notification saying "Your updated profile is ready." Beneath this message you will find a link labeled "View Linkedin Profile", which takes you back to your profile page. Simply copy the entire link shown here and paste it into your email client or text editor. Next time you want to check your profile, all you need to do is hit Enter or Return after pasting the code.

How to Create A New Account With LinkedIn

If you haven't yet registered with LinkedIn, you can easily do so by following these steps:

Open up your web browser and type  www.linkedin.com into the address bar.

Click on the blue Log In button below the headline "Create An Account Now!"

Enter your username and password and click Submit.

After logging in, you will see your LinkedIn home page. Go ahead and explore the various options available to you. Remember, you can always return to your profile anytime by copying your unique ID and pasting it into your email program or the address bar of your browser.

Is LinkedIn safe?

Like every popular online platform nowadays, security issues are becoming increasingly difficult to avoid due to the sheer amount of traffic that flows across the internet today. While no single individual or business can truly guarantee 100% protection against cyber threats, LinkedIn makes sure that its customers enjoy the highest level of safety possible. All data stored on the platform is encrypted using industry standard SSL technology and the company employs multiple layers of safeguards to ensure that sensitive user information remains secure. Additionally, the company employs a team of dedicated security experts whose sole purpose is to protect customer data.

In addition to this, people who work for the company itself monitor activity on the platform 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to identify potential problems and take appropriate action where necessary. And lastly, if you are concerned about keeping your account private, you can opt to pay for extra security measures such as two-factor authentication.

So if you're interested in creating a brand new account on LinkedIn, read our article explaining everything you need to know about how to create a LinkedIn account. Not only will this give you an overview of the process involved, but it will also show you how easy it is to set up and maintain an account using the platform.
