Can you use LinkedIn Learning without a LinkedIn account?

However, there is another option that might help you find a better deal than buying directly online. Here's where we come in.

First, head over to your nearest public library branch. Then go to the catalog. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list until you reach "Technology Library" and click on the link next to it. Now look for something called "Online Resources". Clicking on that link will take you to a full listing of everything offered via the Internet at your location.

Scroll down until you see "LYNDAS", followed by "LINKEDIN LEARNING". From there, select "Create Account" under "Subscription Options". Fill out the form with your name, contact info, and payment details, including credit card information if applicable. After submitting your request, you'll receive an email confirmation.

Once received, follow the steps outlined above again to complete registration. Be sure to enter the same password used during initial creation.

Now, whenever you feel ready to dive into Lynda.com, you can easily browse all of the material offered. Just type in the URL into your browser, such as ld.net/g2wA3xW, and you'll instantly gain access to thousands of hours worth of educational video tutorials.

How do I get a free Lynda account?

While most libraries allow you to register for Lynda.com for free, there is a catch. To do so, you'll need to provide proof of residency in order to prove you live locally. For example, you need to bring in a valid driver license, utility bill, or other official ID.

Here's how to obtain a library card and activate your account if you're unable to produce documentation proving your address:

Visit your library's webpage and locate the link labeled "Find Us Online."

Click the button that says "Get a Library Card," located underneath the heading titled "Register or Renew Your Book Loan or Membership Today!"

Enter your name, date of birth, and city into the fields provided.

Select "I'm Ready" from the drop-down menu.

You'll now be prompted to upload a photo of yourself holding your library card. Next, you'll have to verify your identity by entering your phone number. Finally, you'll need to confirm your mailing address.

After completing all three tasks, your card will automatically become active upon completion.

Keep in mind that your library card won't grant you access to every resource featured on Lynda.com. Some materials require you to supply your own card or identification. Is Lynda free now?

Premium 2 gives you 7GB of cloud-based storage, which means you won't run out of room unless you take too long to delete files. Meanwhile, the Standard plan only offers 4GB of storage space, meaning you might end up deleting older lessons because there isn't enough room left for newer ones. That said, both premium subscriptions come with a 30-day trial period so you can test each tier out for yourself first.

You'll see why these prices are worth paying when we talk about how to get started later on in this article. For now though, just remember that Lynda doesn't charge any fees whatsoever until after your trial ends. So feel free to pay whatever amount makes sense for you based on your needs and budget. If you want to cancel anytime during the trial period, however, you will lose all unused credit hours.

How do I get Lynda for free?

As mentioned above, Lynda requires you to create an account via email and password. Once logged in, you'll discover that every course comes equipped with a "Learn Now" button. Clicking on that link takes you straight to a page where you can either choose to watch the entire lesson or download the corresponding file. Both options require payment, but downloading the material does allow you to view it offline.

To avoid getting charged extra fees whenever you visit Lynda, click the Learn Now button instead of watching the whole thing. Then open up the browser tab for that particular lesson, and select Download File under the View Options menu item. This downloads the relevant zip file containing all the tutorial slides and video segments. From there, you should be able to play back the video clips locally on your device.

Can I still use Lynda without LinkedIn?

Unfortunately, the LinkedIn Learning program is currently unavailable due to ongoing changes made by the social media giant. As a result, anyone who tries signing up for Lynda with Facebook or Google+ will receive an error message stating that the service is temporarily suspended in order to comply with the terms and conditions set forth by LinkedIn.

But fear not -- once LinkedIn resumes its normal activities, you'll be able to sign up for Lynda without ever having to worry about linking your profile to anything else. Can I use Lynda without LinkedIn?

While the original version of Lynda was powered exclusively by the social network, the current iteration of the website boasts a completely separate interface. First off, clicking on the Learn Now button on the Lynda home screen automatically redirects you to the new LinkedIn Learning portal. Second, the search function found within the Lynda app uses Bing rather than Google's own algorithm. Organization memberships are designed specifically for businesses, schools, universities, non-profits, associations, professional organizations, and government agencies. It's possible to create an international organization.

Individuals can apply to become a member of a school or university group once they reach 18 years of age. This means that individuals under 18 may not be eligible to join a school or university group unless their parent(s), guardian(s), or legal representative signs off on the application form.

In order to qualify for a corporate membership, you must already belong to a qualifying association or organization that uses LinkedIn for internal communication. Once approved, these groups receive special benefits including priority support for product development, discounts on products and services, and early access to releases. Is Lynda free for students?

You should know that Lynda does offer a student discount for those who meet certain criteria. Can you get LinkedIn Learning for free with a library card?

Unfortunately, no. Although you can borrow books from your local branch of the library, you cannot actually view the contents inside them. Instead, you will have to return items according to the terms set forth by your particular institution.

For instance, some libraries prohibit patrons from removing books from the premises, whereas others permit borrowers to take home 10 percent of the total amount borrowed. Others allow for book returns within seven days of checkout. Then again, some institutions charge fines for late returns. Therefore, it's important to contact your nearest branch before heading off to explore the vast collection of titles that you can find there.

That being said, you can borrow DVDs and CDs if you prefer reading printed matter. Plus, you can also look forward to borrowing magazines, newspapers, and journals. Unfortunately, you cannot borrow music -- although you can check out MP3 players and tablets.

Also, keep in mind that some branches of the library system restrict your borrowing privileges due to overdue fees or fines. So depending on your location, you may end up spending more money overall than you would have spent otherwise.

Although it seems like a long shot, you might be able to convince your librarian to let you borrow textbooks from the library. Many college campuses now accept textbook loans, especially since publishers frequently send new editions to campus libraries. Your best bet is probably going to be contacting an academic advisor or department chairperson to inquire about the possibility. As far as streaming media goes, you can easily search Google Play Books, Apple iTunes Store, Spotify, Hulu, HBO Now, and Sling TV among other platforms. There's nothing stopping you from downloading apps onto your phone or tablet as well, although you shouldn't expect any kind of advanced functionality beyond basic usage.

Lastly, you can also use your library cards to check out physical copies of digital books offered by your local branch. Keep in mind that these books tend to be older publications rather than brand new titles.
