Is there a student account for LinkedIn?

Yes, there is indeed a student version of LinkedIn called 'Student Linkedin'. The service is currently being tested and is set to launch sometime between January 2021-March 2021.

When it does release, however, you’ll be required to enter your student ID number to gain access. You’ll also need to prove that you’re enrolled full time in college or school, and you must complete 12 credits annually.

Once you meet these requirements, you’ll be given access to Student Linkedin. There is, unfortunately, no mention of what exactly you’ll be allowed to do within the service. Presumably, this includes things like connecting to groups, seeing who follows you, etc., but nothing else is clear.

However, it seems likely that you’ll be able to view contact information, send messages, search for jobs, and similar tasks. In addition, there are plans to add extra features, such as the ability to upload documents, resume templates, and so forth.

It’s unclear exactly why LinkedIn hasn’t launched this yet, but perhaps it’s due to concerns regarding privacy. After all, students aren’t usually concerned about privacy issues as much as adults.

Either way, this feature is definitely worth keeping an eye on, especially since it appears that LinkedIn is planning to roll it out very soon.

How do I create a student account on LinkedIn?

Unfortunately, creating a student account on LinkedIn requires a bit of work. First, head over to www.linkedin.com/students to log into the official site. Then click on the Create Account button. Once you’ve logged in, select New User, fill in some basic details, and finally agree to the terms and conditions.

Afterwards, you’ll need to verify your email address by clicking on Verify Your Email Address. Finally, confirm your information and choose a password. From here, you should be ready to move onto the next step.
