Do you want your company's prospects to be able to create leads from their connections on LinkedIn? If so, then it might not hurt to set up an account at HubSpot or another CRM tool that allows you to integrate with LinkedIn.

In addition, if your business has been using Sales Navigator (formerly known as Sales Navigator Enterprise) before upgrading to the latest version of it, you can still use its features such as auto-save, activity writeback, reporting, badges, search filtering, etc., but now those features are also available through the new LinkedIn CRM feature.

This article shows how to enable CRM sync between LinkedIn and either HubSpot or SalesNavigator, and what benefits each one offers. You'll find out why many companies choose to go with these two options, and which ones offer better value for money.

What does CRM mean in LinkedIn?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management software. It is used to manage customer relationships, including managing contacts and customers' interactions with businesses. The name "Customer" refers to any person who buys goods or services from a seller. Customers include potential buyers, current clients, past customers, vendors, partners, employees, investors, and anyone else involved in selling products or providing services to others.

The main purpose of CRM software is to help organizations keep track of all activities related to creating, nurturing, and closing deals with existing and prospective customers. Some examples of activities performed by CRM systems include maintaining contact information about customers, tracking communications sent by staff members, keeping records of actions taken during a deal's lifecycle, and monitoring competitors' moves against yours.

Does LinkedIn have a CRM system?

LinkedIn doesn't provide its own CRM solution. However, there are several third party solutions that allow you or your organization to connect your LinkedIn profile data with other databases or applications that contain data about customers, leads, prospects, or other relevant entities. These solutions may even let people add notes or comments directly into their LinkedIn profiles. All of these things make it easier for people to interact with your brand online.

These types of CRMs typically come in three different flavors: cloud based, hosted, and self-hosted. Cloud-based solutions like Hubspot and SalesForce give you access to everything within one platform. They're often very expensive because they require ongoing maintenance fees plus monthly subscription costs. Hosted solutions like Nimble and Insightly are less costly than cloud-based offerings, but they don't work well when your network grows beyond a certain size. For example, it could become difficult to maintain separate versions of your CRM database to support multiple teams, departments, or locations. Self-hosted solutions like HubSpot, Salesforce, and Zoho Corp. have no fixed cost. Instead, they charge only for the resources they consume.

A few years ago, we looked at some popular alternatives to HubSpot as far back as 2013. At the time, our best recommendation was to check out Salesforce.com since it had a free trial option. In 2018, however, both Salesforce and HubSpot have introduced paid plans. So, depending upon your needs, you should consider whether paying $10 per month for HubSpot would be worth it. Also, there are plenty of other choices besides HubSpot and Salesforce. Here are just a few of them:

Nimble - A free CRM app for Windows and macOS. It includes basic contact management features like emailing, scheduling meetings, assigning tasks, and sending documents. There is also a mobile app for iOS and Android.

Insightly - Free CRM app for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Its primary focus is to collect feedback from customers while helping salespeople close more deals.

Zoho Corporation - An enterprise level CRM application designed primarily for small and medium sized businesses. It comes with over 100 modules covering key areas of marketing, sales, service delivery, finance, human resource management, product development, project management, and accounting.

If none of these options seem appropriate, maybe you can build something yourself! This process isn't always straightforward though, especially if you need to install custom code onto your website. But if you already know C# programming language or Python scripting, it shouldn't pose too many challenges.



What does the CRM do?

By integrating your LinkedIn accounts with your internal CRM system, you'll automatically receive updates whenever someone adds a connection to your profile. Your team members will also see notifications in their emails when a prospect joins your network, opens an inquiry, or sends correspondence to your organization via LinkedIn messages.

For instance, suppose you've added a new prospect to your list. When he creates his first post on LinkedIn, your team member sees a message informing him that this individual wants to meet with you soon. He clicks the link provided and starts following up with the client via phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and e-mails until he gets the sale signed off.

All of this happens without having to lift a finger. Once you get started setting up LinkedIn CRM sync, you won't ever miss an important interaction again.

How to Enable CRM Sync in LinkedIn

To begin connecting your LinkedIn accounts with your CRM, follow these steps:

1. Go to LinkedIn's homepage and click Manage Connections. Then select Edit Settings under Account Information. Click Save Changes.

2. Select Automatically update my status after I'm contacted from a LinkedIn connection.

3. Under Profile Fields, type a short description of the role played by your colleague or employee in reaching out to prospects. For example, it might say "Salesperson."

4. From the dropdown menu next to Status Updates, pick How did this person reach me? Choose Other then click Add Field.

5. Enter the details into this field box. Make sure to enter the correct email address of the contact.

6. Next, choose Who is the owner of this connection? Pick Company/Organization/Department. Then finish filling in the rest of the fields.

7. Now, you're done configuring the settings for the LinkedIn CRM sync. To test it out, log out of LinkedIn and login again. See if your colleagues see a notification when someone connects to your LinkedIn account.

8. Finally, save the changes made above. Otherwise, you won't be able to edit the LinkedIn CRM sync configuration later.

9. Sign in to the CRM system where you'd like to start syncing your LinkedIn accounts. Go to Setup > Integrations. On the left side of the screen, scroll down to Find integrations. Check the box beside Linkedin and click Continue.

When prompted, review the terms and conditions section of the agreement. Agree to the terms and continue.

Now, wait a couple days for your LinkedIn CRM synchronization to complete. Afterward, go to Setup > Integrations again. Uncheck the Linkedin integration and re-enable it. Then, you should see a notification appear in your CRM dashboard letting you know that LinkedIn is being updated.

How to Use Hubspot + LinkedIn Integration to Get More Deals Done Faster

With LinkedIn Sales Navigator now integrated with HubSpot, you can view all of your LSN contacts right inside of HubSpot making collaboration easier. Since HubSpot already collects lots of important details about your LSN contacts, you won’t miss anything important.

When you look at a contact record in HubSpot, you can add notes, upload documents, and even mark them as “champions” – meaning that they’re qualified prospects ready to close. Then you can assign champions to projects or campaigns to give them extra priority. Finally, you can export all of your champion records to Excel so you can review them later.

If you’d rather not manually enter data into HubSpot, you can import your LSN contacts into HubSpot via CSV files instead. Just go to Settings > Import/Export Contacts and choose Export to CSV file.

Once you download the resulting.CSV file, open it in Excel, copy the cells containing the relevant fields, paste them into HubSpot, and click Save Changes. Your contacts will appear in the appropriate places almost immediately.

As long as you’ve connected both HubSpot and LSN, you can also edit your contacts there too! After importing contacts, simply click Edit next to the name of the contact you wish to update. From there, use the dropdown menu to select the desired field(s).

Salesforce CRM has been around since 1999 when they first launched their product as a small startup company called SugarCRM.

They were able to build up a solid reputation by providing excellent customer service before being acquired by SalesForce in 2011 for $3.75 billion dollars. Since then, SalesForce has continued its mission to be the world leader in cloud computing and enterprise applications.
