Where are Hunter Biden's emails?

Where are Hunter Biden's emails?

There’s been no shortage of scandals to keep Joe Biden busy in Washington this week. But one investigation that should be front-and-center on his schedule involves the White House’s family members — specifically, where the vice president can find out what happened to his son, Hunter Biden.

The former vice president isn't alone in wanting answers, either. A bipartisan group of lawmakers have also called for an investigation into whether or not President Donald Trump used taxpayer money to fund hush payments to women who claimed they had affairs with him. And while it seems unlikely that any such payment will come up during Joe Biden’s impeachment trial, it’s certainly possible he could use some extra help when questions start flying at him next month.

So far, the only thing we know about the government probe that might involve Hunter Biden is that it was launched by Attorney General William Barr after receiving complaints about foreign influence peddling involving the younger Biden. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that the DOJ had received more than 100 tips alleging corruption surrounding Hunter Biden and Burisma Holdings, which paid millions of dollars for access to then-Vice President Joe Biden as he pushed Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor. However, there’s still plenty left unanswered. We don’t even know if these allegations are true.

But here’s something else you do know for sure: Hunter Biden’s book, Fearless (Katherine Graham Books), hasn’t seen much attention since its release last November. He spent nearly two years touring the country talking about how hard life was growing up without being able to afford college tuition but never mentioned anything about the financial fallout of his father’s work on behalf of Ukrainian interests. In fact, the only time Hunter mentions his dad in the book is when he says he hopes “to someday tell my story so people better understand why I didn’t run away from home like many other kids would have done.”

If anyone knows about running away from home, it’s probably Hunter Biden. His first public appearance came just days after his 18th birthday in 2014, when he told reporters that he wasn’t going back to school because his mom, Kathleen Buhle, wanted to spend more time with her new boyfriend. That same day, she posted a photo of herself and her husband, Dr. George Pappas, standing outside their house. At least one person noticed.

Hunter Biden’s older sister Ashley is said to have tweeted that night, saying, “I wish @kabuhlebooks [sic] husband were my Dad! You guys look great together! #BidensAreNotMyBrothers.” (Ashley later deleted the tweet.) It’s unclear if the post was meant to be a dig at the couple’s relationship or if she thought Hunter was getting an unfair share of his parents’ affection. Either way, it led to speculation that Hunter wouldn’t live under his parents roof permanently.

That’s exactly what happened six months later, when Hunter moved into a rental property owned by a friend of his uncle Christopher Heinz. It was only supposed to be temporary until he got into law school, but the arrangement lasted five years. By September 2019, Hunter and Kathleen split ways again, with Hunter moving back home. This time, however, things weren’t quite as amicable. According to Vanity Fair, Hunter had reportedly threatened to sue Kathleen over unpaid rent unless she gave him $2 million. She refused to comply, prompting a lawsuit against both parties.

It all sounds pretty crazy. But Hunter Biden himself seemed unfazed. When asked recently about his parents’ divorce, he replied, "I think that was the most difficult period of my life." So maybe the real scandal here is that nobody ever bothered to ask Hunter what he thinks about his own childhood. After all, it’s easy enough to imagine that he’d have interesting thoughts on the subject.

Who published Hunter Biden's book?

Joe Biden’s oldest child may be off the hook for now, but it doesn’t mean he’ll get to escape scrutiny forever. There’s already evidence that his memoir was ghostwritten, and it’s likely that the manuscript was edited by someone close to the Bidens themselves, including Joe and Jill Biden, Hunter’s siblings Valerie Biden Owens and Roberta Cohen, and possibly his brother James.

According to the New York Times, the publisher Katherine Graham Books—which is based in New Jersey—isn’t listed anywhere online except for a few local listings in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Its website doesn’t appear to exist, either, though it does have a Facebook page that lists the author as Joseph Mifsud, who is described as a journalist turned writer.

However, Mifsud’s LinkedIn profile shows that he worked as a reporter and editor for the Daily Telegraph between 2006 and 2010, before joining the BBC Radio 4 program World Have Your Say as a producer. It was there that he met Hunter Biden, whose company Rosemont Seneca Partners hired him as a consultant. As part of that position, Mifsud interviewed Hunter about his experiences working with his dad on matters relating to Ukraine policy. They spoke multiple times per week for several months, according to the BBC.

Mifsud claims to have given Hunter Biden notes from those interviews, but it’s unclear if he took dictation or wrote down everything word for word. Regardless, the Times reports that the source material appears to be authentic, and Mifsud did indeed edit Hunter Biden’s book.

Who is Hunter Biden's mother?

Kathleen Buhle married George Pappas in 1992, three weeks after meeting through mutual friends. Her previous marriage ended in 1991, when she wed Michael Buhle, a prominent attorney who served as deputy mayor of Philadelphia during the 1980s.

Pappas is a medical doctor who specializes in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary surgery. He’s also known as the founder of the Center for Hepatitis C Treatment & Research at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Pennsylvania. He later became involved with the nonprofit organization Global Medical Relief Foundation, where he serves as chairman of the board.

George Pappas died in March 2020, at the age of 58. Just prior to his passing, he donated $1 million to the National Institute of Health to support research aimed at developing treatments for hepatitis C. (He also helped establish the George Pappas Liver Cancer Fund, named in honor of his late wife.)

Since 2016, Kathleen Buhle has been living in California, where she works as a marketing manager for a pharmaceutical manufacturer. She declined to comment when contacted by CNN Business, instead referring them to the Biden campaign.

Who is Hunter Biden and Beau Biden's mother?

Before she remarried, Buhle made headlines in 1998 when she filed suit against her ex-husband claiming he sexually abused her daughter. The case went nowhere, and Buhle eventually dropped the charges.

In 2009, she was arrested for shoplifting jewelry worth $1,300. The incident occurred shortly after she filed for bankruptcy protection. Buhle pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and agreed to pay restitution.

She and Pappas separated for good in 2015, after 27 years of marriage. During the separation, Buhle lived in Florida, while Pappas stayed behind in Philadelphia.

Who are Hunter Biden's parents?

According to the New York Post, Hunter Biden Sr. was born John Francis Kennedy Jr. in 1942. He changed his name to Frank Marshall Jones III in 1965 following his marriage to Anna Maria Shriver, a member of the Kennedy clan with whom he shared four sons.

After graduating high school, JFJ attended Yale University on a baseball scholarship, where he earned a degree in economics in 1966. His interest in politics began early, too, and he joined the Young Democrats club at Harvard Law School. He graduated cum laude in 1969 and passed the bar exam soon afterward. On April 22, 1970, he married Elizabeth Ann Bayly. Five years later, he entered private practice at the firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP.

Jones ran unsuccessfully for Congress twice before winning a seat in 1976, becoming one of the youngest representatives in history. He resigned in 1978 due to health concerns stemming from alcoholism, and he lost reelection in 1982. Later that decade, he founded the consulting firm JM Group LLC.

During the course of his career, JFJ held numerous political positions within Democratic circles. He was appointed by Jimmy Carter to serve as U.S. ambassador to Japan in 1977, and he represented Delaware in the Senate beginning in 1981. He also sat on boards affiliated with organizations like Amtrak.

His son Hunter followed in his footsteps in 2004, serving as the director of global corporate development for MBNA America Bank from 2005 to 2008. While there, he lobbied the Obama administration to approve the sale of American Airlines to Delta Air Lines.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he and his late son were not "in any way involved" in their younger brother Hunter Biden's controversial overseas business deals while they served as vice president under Barack Obama. But where did all this go wrong for Hunter Biden anyway?

Hunter Biden is an American businessman who, according to Forbes' most recent estimate, made $2 million per year by 2013 when he joined the board of Burisma Holdings Ltd., one of Ukraine's largest private energy companies. The company had been accused of paying bribes to officials there.

In May 2014, while serving alongside his father as vice president, Biden pushed through a bill allowing U.S. aid for Ukraine to be released by withholding funds from Russia (which it still hasn't happened). In October 2015, Biden himself met with Ukrainian leaders while his father sat beside him at the United Nations General Assembly. And earlier this week, after reports emerged in the New York Times detailing how Hunter Biden had used his position to make money off the former Soviet state, the Washington Post reported that an investigation into his work in Ukraine could lead back to his family name.

But where does Hunter Biden come from? How did he get so rich so fast? What is his role within the Bidens' sprawling political dynasty? We'll explain everything you need to know below. Read on if you want to learn more!

At least one report says that the elder Biden moved to California because he wanted to spend time with his young grandson.

Before becoming vice president, Biden worked as attorney general of Delaware, mayor of Syracuse, New York City councilman, senator, and governor of Delaware. Since then, Hunter Biden made several trips to Ukraine, often accompanied by his father. On one occasion, he called local authorities to complain about alleged extortion attempts against his firm, though no charges were filed. It appears that he took advantage of his former status as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament to help secure contracts with Kyiv, even though he wasn’t officially employed by them anymore.

His mother and sister both say that Hunter Biden isn’t getting paid by anyone, despite appearances—he simply likes traveling and using his connections to profit from foreign businesses.

According to TMZ, Hunter Biden's wife received a restraining order against him shortly after filing for divorce in August 2019. The court document stated that his actions showed "an imminent danger of inflicting serious physical harm upon the Plaintiff." This is believed to be the result of a dispute over whether they should continue to share custody of their unborn baby girl.

However, Hunter Biden denies having abused his wife. Instead, he claims that she asked him to leave their home because he wouldn't stop drinking alcohol.

President Joe Biden and his family have been under scrutiny for some time now for their involvement in Ukraine and China. But as we approach what could be an historic impeachment vote on Wednesday, there’s also another story bubbling up that raises questions regarding Hunter Biden’s past — specifically, where he stands financially.

Hunter Biden Jr., who served on the board of Burisma Holdings Ltd., a Ukrainian natural gas company, has reportedly earned millions over the years through investments, speaking fees, and consulting work. The former vice president’s youngest child made $1 million per year while working at a law firm founded by one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers. He’s also received significant financial support from other wealthy families, including the Bidens. And it appears he may not even live in Delaware anymore.

In fact, according to a report published Monday night by Axios, Biden’s eldest son, Beau, had already moved out of the family home before dying last month. His second-oldest son, Hunter, has recently taken up residence elsewhere. It remains unclear exactly why this move occurred or if it will impact any potential investigation into Hunter Biden’s role in Ukraine.

But the timing certainly seems suspicious given the ongoing political turmoil surrounding the White House. According to a recent CNN poll, more than half of Americans believe Biden should resign because of the allegations against him. And Democrats are demanding answers as the House Judiciary Committee prepares to hold public hearings next week into whether President Donald Trump abused his office when he attempted to pressure Ukraine into investigating Biden and his son.

So, where did all this money come from? We've broken down everything you need to know below so you can make sense of it all.

Is Ashley Biden Hunter Biden's daughter?

Ashley Biden (née Meek) was first introduced to the public eye via her relationship with basketball player Earvin “Magic Johnson” Magic III. The pair met on set during filming of Space Jam 2. She later became pregnant by Johnson after they broke up, but she filed for divorce soon after giving birth in 1997.

A few months later, Hunter Biden announced he would marry Cailin Binkley, a woman whom he had known since high school. They were married less than two weeks after the divorce between Ashley and Johnson was finalized. A decade later, the couple divorced.

Ashley was once rumored to be engaged to actor Ashton Kutcher, which would explain how the couple ended up together again. In 2015, however, she confirmed that she hadn't seen Johnson in "a long time," adding that she didn't think he'd ever remarry.

"I don't really see myself getting back involved with anything like that," she said. "He's a great father."

Now, Ashley works as a real estate agent in Los Angeles. Her LinkedIn page says she graduated from UCLA in 2011 with a degree in history. She lives in Westwood, California, near the university campus.

It appears that Ashley isn't related to Hunter Biden at all. There's no evidence that either parent is related to Vice President Joe Biden. However, there is a rumor floating around online that Hunter Biden was actually adopted by his parents. That claim comes from Kathleen Buhle Books, a self-published author based in New Jersey whose website advertises itself as being written exclusively about Hunter Biden.

Buhle claims that Hunter Biden was adopted shortly before his parents' marriage and that both he and his brother James were raised separately from their biological siblings. This idea is supported by various media reports, though none of these articles cite sources for the assertion.

One article referenced above does mention a source named Joseph Riehlman, who told reporters in May 2018 that he believed Hunter was "adopted at birth." When asked if he thought there was any truth to the rumors, Riehlman responded, "Yes, I do."

There are several problems with this theory, however. For starters, it doesn't appear anyone else besides Buha believes it to be true. Also, the adoption records themselves show that Hunter was only 6 years old when his adoptive parents signed paperwork making them legal guardians of the boy.

We reached out to Kathleen Buha for comment on this matter and haven't heard back yet. But regardless of whether or not Hunter was legally adopted, there's no indication that he wasn't biologically descended from his parents. So unless the child was physically removed from his parents, it wouldn't change the fact that Hunter is still closely connected to his biological relatives.

Who is Naomi Biden's mother?

According to multiple reports, Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Naomi Boyd Biden, is the maternal grandmother of his three children. She gave birth to Hunter Biden IV, who died in infancy, and Hunter Biden V, born in 2017.

While many people assumed that Hunter Biden’s first wife, Melissa Cohen, was the mother of his oldest child, there’s reason to question that assumption. First off, Cohen hasn’t commented publicly regarding the issue, nor has she spoken with journalists or appeared in photos with her grandchildren.

Second, Cohen apparently had a close friendship with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, who passed away in 2009. While it’s possible that Cohen bore his grandson due to the closeness of their friendship, it’s also quite likely that she knew Kennedy prior to marrying him in 1979.

Third, Cohen’s own father is Robert Mancini, who served five terms in Congress representing Massachusetts’ 10th district. Given that Biden and Kennedy lived within walking distance of each other in Washington D.C., it’s entirely plausible that they crossed paths often throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Finally, it’s important to note that Hunter Biden’s father, Dr. John Francis Pérez, worked for Kennedy for years and went on to become a prominent Democratic politician himself.

How old is Hunter Biden II?

At 26 years old, Hunter Biden Jr. is currently the youngest person ever elected to serve on the boards of directors of major corporations, such as Apple Inc. and Fidelity Investments. He previously served on the boards of energy giant BP and aerospace manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corp.

At 27, Hunter Biden has also cofounded a nonprofit organization called The Rose Center for Public Leadership, which aims to promote civic engagement among young adults. Since its launch in 2014, the group has hosted events across the country that attract tens of thousands of attendees annually.

Additionally, Hunter Biden serves on the advisory council of the National Geographic Society alongside fellow 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

When was Hunter Biden born?

Hunter Biden was born November 20, 1977, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He spent most of his childhood in Wilmington, Delaware. As stated earlier, he attended Friends School in Wilmington and graduated from Penn Charter High School in 1995.

His older brother, James Hunter Biden, was born on October 30, 1975. Before entering politics, he worked as an attorney and lobbyist for companies like DuPont and Alcoa. Both brothers inherited their fathers’ wealth upon death.

As far as we're aware, Biden never married or fathered any children outside his immediate family.
