How much does a LinkedIn Learning license cost?

LinkedIn Learning has been around since 2012 but now offers over 300 courses on everything from business management to coding. The company says its platform allows you to learn anywhere, anytime with unlimited access to course content, so if you're looking to expand your skill set or brush up on some old ones, LinkedIn Learning could be just what you need.

There are two ways of getting started - either by signing up as an individual user (which will require payment) or through a student plan. We'll take a look at both options below. If you'd rather not pay anything at all, then don't worry -- we've got you covered too!

Is there a way to get LinkedIn Learning for free?

If you want to try out the service before committing any money that's fine. You can do this by creating a free account using one of these links. Once logged into your new account simply click Learn More under each course title to begin studying for free. Note however that you won't have access to video lessons, quizzes, certificates, or other features until after completing the first lesson. While this isn't ideal, it should give you enough time to decide whether you like the program.

This makes sense because the purpose of this section is to introduce you to various subjects so that you know where to go next when you're ready to purchase a paid version. It doesn't matter if you never use the product again once you complete the introductory lessons though, which means that you really aren't losing anything by going the free route.

Is LinkedIn Learning only for premium?

No, actually. While most platforms charge a monthly fee for their services, LinkedIn Learning offers three different tiers depending on how long you wish to commit to the platform. These include Student, Associate, and Enterprise subscriptions.

Student: $20/month ($18/year), Associate: $40/month ($36/year), and Enterprise: $60/month ($54/year). This gives you full access to the entire platform including live instructor-led classes, online lectures, group discussions, practice tests, personalized recommendations, and more.

You'll receive 5% off your first order when purchasing directly from LinkedIn Learning. This discount is available to anyone who signs up during the promotion period, which runs from August 10th to September 30th 2020.

Can I get LinkedIn Learning without premium?

Yes, you certainly can. To start things off, all users must create a profile and log in to gain access to the platform. From here you'll see a list of courses waiting to be taken. Clicking on a topic takes you to a page where you can browse further details such as descriptions, ratings, prices, and availability.

Once you've decided upon a course to study, simply select Buy Now to proceed. A window pops open showing you all of the terms and conditions associated with the purchase. Just scroll down past these and hit Agree & Continue to continue.

After making your selection, you'll be asked to enter your email address and password to confirm your identity. After doing this you'll be able to view the materials within your chosen course.

What is the difference between LinkedIn premium and LinkedIn Learning?

Like we mentioned earlier, LinkedIn Learning comes in three varieties based on how long you choose to subscribe to the service. All of them offer similar benefits, but differ slightly in terms of pricing.

Students: $20/month ($18/year)

Associate: $40/month ($36/year)

Enterprise: $60/month ($54/year)

We think that Students is probably the best value, especially considering the fact that you're paying less than half of what you would normally expect to shell out per month. As well as having access to every single course offered across the platform, you'll also benefit from discounts on additional software products and training programs.

For example, Coursera costs $30/month whereas LinkedIn Learning only charges $15/month. Similarly, Skillshare costs $10/month while LinkedIn Learning asks for the same amount for Student subscribers. In addition, you'll save 15% off eBooks when buying directly from LinkedIn Learning versus third party retailers. Finally, you'll enjoy a 20% discount on Skillsoft training when subscribing via LinkedIn Learning instead of elsewhere.

It might seem strange to spend less on something with better perks, but remember that you're saving money overall. Plus, since the bulk of the courses are aimed at beginners, you'll soon become familiar with the platform and therefore be able to make informed decisions regarding future purchases.

At the end of the day, it pays to keep an eye on prices whenever possible. Even if you sign up today, you may discover tomorrow that another provider drops theirs. At least if you went ahead with LinkedIn Learning you'll already have a few months' worth of education under your belt!

What is the best way to learn from LinkedIn learning courses and videos?

The great thing about LinkedIn's learning platform is that it doesn't matter whether you have an existing account or not because there are no signup forms or barriers to entry.

You can easily browse through the various categories of classes and pick something that interests you. All you then need to do is click play and start watching as soon as the class begins.

If you want to save time when searching for a particular topic, use the search bar at the top of the page which will pull up results based on keywords entered by other users who may also be interested in the subject. It's important to note that while most courses offer free trials to see how they work before paying anything, many require payment upfront regardless of how long you watch them. This means you should always check prices first.

In fact, you can take almost any course from these companies with your premium account. So how do they compare when it comes to their prices? We'll look at each platform separately below.

Is LinkedIn Learning worth paying for?

It depends on what kind of learner you are. For example, if you don't have the time to commit to a full semester but would rather go through a series of short lessons over several weeks, then it might be perfect for you. Or maybe you just need some extra help before applying for jobs. Either way, you should consider signing up for a premium membership.

The good news is that every student who signs up for a premium account will receive access to LinkedIn Premium Content. This means that a lot of the content available on the platform is completely free. You won't pay a cent for videos, articles, quizzes, or discussions. However, if you want to watch lectures or attend live events, you'll need to purchase a monthly or yearly plan.

You can sign up for a single month and cancel whenever you want. But if you decide not to renew your premium status after 30 days, you'll lose access to everything. On top of that, you'll only be able to view the content once. After viewing it once, you must wait until the next billing cycle to see it again.

This isn't necessarily bad though because there are so many great things to gain by using LinkedIn Premium Content. And if you don't mind waiting a bit longer while you study, then you may actually end up saving money overall.

Also, keep in mind that there aren't any restrictions to accessing LinkedIn Learning outside of those mentioned above. Even if you cancel your subscription during the first 7 days, you will still retain access. As long as you stay within those seven days, you can continue using the platform as normal.

There are two ways to purchase a LinkedIn Learning license. You can either buy a lifetime license or a yearlong subscription. A lifetime license allows you to access all courses indefinitely. A yearlong subscription gives you unlimited access to courses for 12 months.

For both options, however, you can pause or stop your license anytime. Unlike other platforms, you cannot simply choose to "skip" a few classes. Instead, you'll need to uninstall your software altogether.

In addition, unlike some other platforms, you can't save your progress between different licenses. That means that if you switch back to a free version of the platform, you'll start from scratch.

As far as pricing goes, each option is pretty similar. A lifetime subscription runs $25/month ($30/year) whereas a yearlong subscription charges $20 per month ($23/year). Both options include access to all courses and materials.

A lifetime license is obviously going to set you back significantly more per month. So depending on whether or not you think you'll stick with it for years, it could make sense financially. Otherwise, the yearlong option will probably work better for you.

Are LinkedIn courses legit?

Yes, absolutely. There are tons of reputable colleges and universities offering their own versions of courses on LinkedIn. They offer hundreds of thousands of hours of content across multiple subjects. Some of them even feature video tutorials in which professors teach directly via webcam. These instructors usually have experience teaching at schools such as Harvard University, Stanford University, MIT, Columbia University, Cornell University, Duke University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and others.

And yes, you can definitely earn college credit toward your degree. Many times, you'll even be required to take certain courses on LinkedIn Learning, especially if you want to transfer credits into your university program.

Some institutions require students to complete certain prerequisites beforehand. Others, however, allow you to enroll right away.

What's really nice about LinkedIn Learning is that it doesn't matter whether you intend to pursue higher education or not. Everyone can benefit from taking courses on the platform. Which is better Coursera or LinkedIn Learning?

Both programs are very popular among learners. That said, they come down to personal preference. Coursera was founded in 2012 and already boasts millions of users. More recently, it launched its own app called Course Catalog.

Unlike Coursera, LinkedIn Learning started off as a product offered exclusively to businesses. It wasn't until 2015 that the company began making the platform publicly available to everyone else. At present, there are over 300 million active members worldwide.

When comparing both platforms, you'll notice that LinkedIn Learning tends to focus more on practical skills. Coursera, meanwhile, leans a little heavier towards theory. Since LinkedIn Learning focuses more on real world applications, it appeals to a wider range of people.

That being said, the same principles apply regardless of the platform. Each provides valuable information, and you can certainly learn a ton of useful stuff from either one.

On the other hand, Coursera makes it easier to find specific topics you'd like to explore further. When you search for a topic, you'll immediately see related lectures, articles, and discussion threads. Plus, you can filter results based on language and field.

Of course, you can always browse the entire library yourself instead of relying on the recommendations provided by Coursera. Also, you can download material onto your device for offline consumption.

Can I get LinkedIn Learning for free?

Absolutely. If you're willing to sit tight for a couple of minutes, you can grab a 14 day trial on the website itself. Just enter your email address and click Get Started Now. Your trial period will begin automatically upon completion.

However, you'll have to log out of your current account prior to signing up for the trial. To avoid losing your data, you'll need to delete your browser cookies. Then head to the Sign Up page and follow the instructions listed onscreen. Finally, fill out the form, confirm your payment details, and click Create Account.

Once the process is completed successfully, you'll be taken to the home screen. From here, you can navigate through the various sections of the platform.

Alternatively, you can always try the mobile apps. There are currently three available on Google Play Store, iOS App Store, Windows Phone Store, Amazon Appstore, BlackBerry World, Nokia Ovi Shop, Kindle Fire Apps, Samsung Galaxy Apps, Nook Apps, and Tizen Market Place.

If you don't mind spending just over half the amount ($12 per month), then you should definitely check out LinkedIn Free. This version still lets you create a personal profile, search for jobs, follow people, and send messages to contacts. But it doesn't give you access to any additional tools or services. Plus, while you might think you'd save money by going with the free plan, you really shouldn't because there are plenty of paid options available that offer even better value than the basic service offered here.

Who has access to LinkedIn Learning?

Since LinkedIn Learning was launched back in 2015, it seems almost every major tech company has jumped on board to provide content based on various subjects including software development, cybersecurity, project management, business analytics, and marketing. In addition to those big names, smaller companies have also created programs focused on specific niches like finance, healthcare IT, law enforcement, and supply chain.

And since LinkedIn Learning isn't limited to just employees working at large corporations, anyone can enroll in courses regardless of where they work or what industry they belong to. That means you could potentially benefit from LinkedIn Learning no matter what kind of profession you currently hold -- even if you never considered yourself "tech savvy" or were too intimidated to try something new in the past!

Can I use my library card for LinkedIn Learning?

Yes. Although you will probably prefer using a credit card instead of a library card when purchasing products or subscriptions, you can certainly use your library card for a number of things including checking out books, CDs/DVDs, magazines, and videos from the comfort of home. Just keep in mind that you cannot purchase any course materials directly from the library itself unless you've been granted permission by the institution itself.

However, if you live near a public branch library and would rather spend less money on course material, you may be able to pick up a few items for free thanks to a program called Lending Library. Some branches around the country participate in this initiative, allowing patrons to borrow digital versions of eBooks, audiobooks, music, and DVDs for 30 days at a time.

While the lending periods vary depending on location, you must return borrowed products before another person checks out the item. But hey, if you're willing to sacrifice convenience for savings, why wouldn't you?

Is LinkedIn Learning free through library?

No. While you may occasionally come across instances where someone mentions borrowing materials from a local branch library, you will usually only find out about the option through social media sites like Reddit or Twitter. Most likely, you'll end up searching for information online and finding out about the program through articles posted on websites like TechRepublic or Gizmodo.

It took me several hours of research before discovering that this program existed, and it wasn't until I saw other posts mentioning the option that I decided to start looking into it myself. Then again, you could say that I'm lucky enough to live close enough to a library that I didn't have to travel far to find out about the option...but that's neither here nor there.

In short, you should always double-check with your library system to ensure that they offer the resources you're looking for. But if they don't, don't fret. With a little bit of effort, you'll eventually stumble upon the program and discover the best way to save some cash when buying educational materials.
