What are the benefits of LinkedIn premium?

What are the benefits of LinkedIn premium?

If you're looking to make new connections or improve existing ones, then you've probably heard about LinkedIn's new premium feature. It allows users to pay $30 per month (or $180 annually) and get access to a host of additional features that help professional networking go further than ever before.

LinkedIn was originally designed as an online resume site where people could list their skills and network with others in similar industries. But over time, its scope changed dramatically. Nowadays, LinkedIn serves as one of many tools professionals use when searching for jobs, meeting potential clients, and connecting with industry peers. So what makes this company’s newest product so valuable? And how does it stack up against other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat? Here's everything you need to know.

How do I see who has viewed my LinkedIn profile without premium?

You may have noticed that if someone views your LinkedIn profile they will be able to comment, share, follow you, send messages, view your contacts, and more. If you want to learn more about them -- whether they're an old colleague from work or another prospect -- there's no way around paying. However, if you don't mind not being notified every single time someone looks at your profile, you can always check out Who Viewed My Profile via LinkedIn Analytics. This tool shows you which profiles were recently visited by visitors outside your organization. You'll also find information such as IP addresses, geographic location, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, screen resolution, country/region, and date range.

However, this isn't the only option available. As we mentioned earlier, LinkedIn Premium gives you the ability to track all these activities yourself. To do this, simply head over to Your Activity page and click See All Recent Visitors. From here, you can choose to filter by Visitor Type, Location, Job Search Status, Referral Source, Company Size, Industry, Education Level, and Other Users.

Does LinkedIn premium show you who viewed your profile?

While you won't receive any notifications about who visits your profile, you can still keep tabs on them using LinkedIn Analytics. In fact, LinkedIn Premium subscribers benefit from two separate reports. The first lets you know which members visit your profile most frequently. These include companies you worked for previously, current colleagues, former classmates, and other individuals across different industries. Meanwhile, the second report focuses on job seekers specifically. This includes recruiters, hiring managers, HR departments, partners, and other third-party organizations.

As you might expect, LinkedIn Premium comes with a few caveats. For example, while you can see who looked at your profile, you cannot respond directly. Instead, you must forward messages to the user themselves. Likewise, you cannot communicate back through LinkedIn unless you upgrade your account to LinkedIn Pro. And lastly, you cannot see who viewed your profile until after you upgrade. So if you'd like to ensure your personal brand remains private, you should definitely consider upgrading right away!

Why can't I see who viewed my LinkedIn profile?

The main reason why you aren't receiving notification alerts about who views your profile is because those actions happen behind the scenes. That means LinkedIn doesn't actually share identifying data between parties. Rather, it uses algorithms to determine certain behaviors based upon its own internal metrics. For instance, LinkedIn says it tracks "the number of times each individual viewed [your] profile per day," but it never shares the actual names associated with those numbers.

Additionally, LinkedIn claims it only collects data under specific circumstances. Those situations include logging into LinkedIn, viewing your profile, clicking on a link within LinkedIn, creating a connection request, sending a message, sharing content, commenting on posts, following someone else, liking something, adding someone as a contact, downloading a file, opening an email, and subscribing to updates. Of course, none of these options require you to log in to LinkedIn itself. They just help build a better understanding of your behavior patterns as well as allow LinkedIn to collect some basic demographic information.

What can you see with LinkedIn premium?

When it comes down to it, LinkedIn wants to give you the best possible experience. Therefore, it strives to provide plenty of value throughout its various products. Unfortunately, LinkedIn Premium falls short of providing the ultimate solution for everyone.

For starters, you won't be able to download your entire profile as part of the package. Instead, you'll have to purchase extra downloads separately, including your education history and employment history. Additionally, you'll need to spend money on advanced analytics packages like Sentiment Analysis and Advanced Audience Insights. Finally, if you're interested in learning more about your competitors' employees, you'll need to buy Pro accounts for both your business and consumer profiles.

On top of this, you'll notice that LinkedIn's standard pricing structure changes slightly year after year. As of 2020, the yearly rate for LinkedIn Premium ranges anywhere between $150-$200 per year depending on your needs. But if you start off relatively small, it's reasonable to assume that prices will continue to rise gradually. After all, premium subscriptions offer greater value compared to paid services offered elsewhere.

But wait, you say. Isn't there a cheaper alternative? Yes, there is! Fortunately, there are several excellent alternatives to LinkedIn that come with the same core functionality. One of the biggest advantages of these apps is that they let you easily search for anyone inside or outside of your workplace. Plus, unlike LinkedIn, you won't need to subscribe to anything else to take advantage of these tools. Just sign in with your Google credentials, enter the name of a person, and voila! Instant results appear below.

Another great app is CredX. Not only can you quickly connect with anyone on LinkedIn, but you can also browse through resumes and portfolios, read news stories, watch videos, and join groups. Plus, it works seamlessly alongside your Gmail inbox. There's nothing stopping you from doing all of this for free. In fact, you can completely skip LinkedIn entirely altogether and focus solely on finding new opportunities.

Benefits of LinkedIn Premium

The basic version of LinkedIn is free -- but if you want your business page to be seen by potential customers and clients, you'll need a paid account.

More ways to connect with people – A list of recommended contacts in your area will appear when someone searches for you online.

Searching for "your" contacts – If one of your friends has been searching for "you", they just might find you through this search function! You can also add yourself to searches from within the app itself.

Advanced analytics – The tool includes advanced metrics such as how many times your posts were shared, which helps you understand what kind of content resonates best with audiences.

A built-in job board – This gives you the ability to post jobs and apply directly from inside the app.

Access to exclusive groups – These include industry specific groups for lawyers, doctors, etc., so you have an opportunity to learn more about your field of expertise.

Premium memberships unlock access to these groups.

Personalized recommendations – When someone looks at your profile, you'll receive personalized suggestions based on their interests.

Enhanced messaging tools – There's now a private message button right next to each contact card and group invite box, which makes sending messages easier than ever.

Unlimited storage space – As long as you pay the monthly fee, there's no limit to the number of files you can upload to your LinkedIn Profile Page. That means you won't run out of room anytime soon.

LinkedIn’s flagship product has been around since 2003 and remains one of the most popular ways to connect with potential employers or clients. The company’s latest offering is LinkedIn Premium, which gives users access to additional features like advanced search capabilities, ability to create groups, and increased visibility in their profiles.

But while LinkedIn Premium can seem pretty tempting at first glance — especially when its annual cost jumps from $100/year to $1,000 per year in 2021 (and potentially higher after that) — there are important reasons why you should consider paying for this feature if it fits into your budget. Here are all the things you might be able to benefit from by signing up for LinkedIn Premium.

What do you get with LinkedIn premium?

LinkedIn Premium comes with some big perks, starting with being able to customize your experience across every platform. This includes adding new sections, changing privacy settings, editing text, adding media, and adjusting the look of your page. In addition to these features, you also have the option of creating custom tabs as well. Each tab will display specific information about what you want to show off about yourself, so having an entire section devoted to work history would make sense.

You could also use these tools to help set your professional goals. For example, you can choose whether you want to share updates related to your personal life or career. You can add links to articles that you think people may find useful, including ones written by other experts. And finally, you can include videos of interviews or job talks that you think will resonate with others.

There are also plenty of other features available through LinkedIn Premium, but we’ll save those for another article. To give you a better idea of how much they cost, here's everything included in LinkedIn Premium:

Customizable tabs

Advanced search

New sections

Personalized recommendations

Insightful analytics

Business insights

Content creation

Professional development

More than 100 million members worldwide

It seems obvious that LinkedIn Premium isn't just for businesses, though. Plenty of consumers use it to keep track of friends and family, and many professionals use it to stay connected to contacts outside of their jobs. If you're looking to build connections within your own network, then LinkedIn Premium makes sense because you'll have the opportunity to reach out to people beyond your existing circle of colleagues.

If you're still not sold on LinkedIn Premium, don't worry! There are plenty of free options, too. We've previously explored how to sign up for LinkedIn without using any credit card info, and today we'll explore how to use LinkedIn without ever paying a dime.

Why do people get LinkedIn premium?

As mentioned above, LinkedIn Premium is mainly used for two purposes: building relationships and staying updated with current events. The former is obviously easier to understand, but both are valuable skills that can come in handy down the line.

For instance, if you know someone working in tech, you can always ask them questions via email or chat, but asking directly on LinkedIn allows you to get answers faster and possibly land a job offer along the way. On the flip side, knowing what's going on in politics right now can help you decide where to spend your time during a pandemic or election season.

How do I post content on LinkedIn?

One of LinkedIn's biggest selling points is that anyone can join regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, education level, or nationality. However, it doesn't mean everyone gets equal treatment. People with certain backgrounds often face discrimination based on stereotypes and lack of diversity in hiring processes.

This means that, depending on your background, you might feel less inclined to apply for jobs posted on LinkedIn. As such, posting content on LinkedIn is an excellent way to showcase your expertise and attract attention from recruiters.

Whether you want to highlight recent accomplishments or simply provide helpful advice to readers, writing blog posts and longer pieces can really pay off over time as they continue to circulate throughout social networks.

Do you need LinkedIn premium to see who viewed your profile?

Yes, you do. It's part of LinkedIn's Privacy Policy, so you shouldn't expect any surprises once you click "Join" on the site. According to the official website, "Viewing public profile data does not require a membership." So technically speaking, you won't be charged anything if you visit someone else's profile. But you probably wouldn't receive an invitation to view theirs either.

However, it's possible to bypass this rule by downloading the LinkedIn app on iOS or Android devices. From there, you can go to Settings & Privacy & Permissions and switch on the toggle next to View Public Profile Data. Once you do that, you can check the box next to See Who Visited My Profile and enter your password whenever prompted. Your browser window will remain open, but you won't actually be viewing the person's profile unless you log back onto the app again.

While this workaround works fine for casual visits, it's not ideal for serious networking efforts. If you truly wish to avoid revealing any personal information, you're better off sticking with the standard version of LinkedIn instead.

Also note that LinkedIn is constantly updating its Terms of Service, so it's possible that changes could affect exactly what you can and cannot do with the site. The good news is that it hasn't done so yet, so you should be safe for now.

Still, it's smart to regularly review your account and update your privacy preferences before the worst happens.

Download: LinkedIn (Free, web apps only).

Cost: Free.

Features: Access to thousands of high-quality jobs and opportunities.

Benefits: Build strong professional relationships.

LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, which owns Windows 10, Office 365, Skype, Xbox Live, Bing, OneDrive, Outlook, and several other popular products. So if you're already familiar with Microsoft services, you might also enjoy trying them out for free.

1. Improve your visibility

For many people looking for work who have never had much success on traditional job boards, LinkedIn can be an excellent place to start networking. The site allows you to build connections through sharing articles relevant to your industry, posting questions about topics that interest you, and asking others to join discussions.

With so many options available, however, there can often be confusion over what exactly counts as appropriate behavior on the platform. Inappropriate use of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter can lead to negative consequences if someone decides to share information they shouldn’t have publicly. At the same time, some companies may not want to hire candidates whose personal life includes things like drinking problems, drug abuse, criminal records, or other issues that could negatively impact their performance at work.

By using LinkedIn in a way that doesn’t put them in breach of any laws or policies, you can increase your chances of being considered for jobs where those kinds of concerns might arise.

One thing that will help you achieve this goal is learning how to manage your profile carefully. For example, don’t include photos showing excessive amounts of alcohol when seeking employment as a bartender, but make sure that your photo shows only a few drinks consumed by friends and family members.

Optimize Your Profile Picture

Make sure your photo contains just one person (and no pets)

Use professional-looking headshots instead of selfies

Avoid pictures taken outdoors unless you know the background won’t show up too badly

LinkedIn is an online professional networking platform that has been around since 2003 and was acquired by Microsoft for $26 billion back in 2016. Since then, its popularity as a social media network and recruitment tool has increased exponentially with over 400 million users worldwide. If you're not familiar with it yet, we've got everything you need to know about LinkedIn here.

The majority of people use LinkedIn to connect with friends or colleagues they already have in their lives but there's also plenty of other features available if you want to make new connections, get hired, advertise your services, etc., which makes it one of the most popular platforms out there.

In fact, more than 1/3rd of all job seekers find jobs through LinkedIn (according to CareerBuilder). It really depends how much time you spend using the site though because anyone can sign up for a free account, so if you don't plan on making any major changes to your profile or posting content regularly, you'll probably be fine without paying anything at all. But if you want access to some extra tools like advanced search options, unlimited sending messages to contacts, and more, LinkedIn's premium membership might just be worth it.

So what exactly do you get when you pay for a premium membership on LinkedIn? Let's take a look...

What does premium LinkedIn give you?

There are five different levels of paid accounts on LinkedIn depending on whether you'd rather focus on connecting with professionals or recruiters, getting help from experts, building your brand, learning new skills, reaching influencers and becoming part of influential groups. Each level comes with certain perks and additional features, too.

Here's a breakdown of what each option gives you and how much it will set you back per month:

- Basic - $9.99 / mo

- Standard $29.95 / mo

- Professional $69.96 / mo

- Visionary $199.95 / mo

- Platinum Plus $299.00 / mo

Of course, these prices change every year based on inflation, so keep this in mind before signing up. You should also note that while you only have to pay monthly after subscribing, you still have to purchase the yearly plan beforehand if you wish to cancel early. This includes renewing your current subscription as well.

For example, if you were previously subscribed to the basic package and signed up for the standard version instead, you would be required to buy both plans together ($39.98) in order to avoid having to reinstate your old subscription. So basically, once you start spending money, you won't be able to stop unless you decide to completely unsubscribe.

But let's go ahead and break down the individual packages anyway.

Does LinkedIn Premium allow you to see anonymous?

Yes! When you subscribe to LinkedIn Premium, you gain access to two exclusive privacy settings called "Private" and "Anonymous." The former allows you to hide your public information, including your name, picture, location, email address, phone number, company info, education history, work experience, interests, etc.

This means that no one else will ever be able to view those specific pieces of data except for yourself. However, if someone wants to contact you via LinkedIn, they may request your full name, title, email address, phone number, and company information. If you choose to accept this kind of information, you won't be allowed to receive similar requests again.

You can always opt out of receiving such emails later on in case you feel uncomfortable sharing personal data with others.

With Anonymous, however, your posts will never appear publicly anywhere on the internet. Not only will this prevent people from viewing them, but it will also ensure that no one will ever be able to link your real identity to your username. In addition, your profile updates will remain invisible until either you approve them or someone shares them publicly.

Both of these features are extremely useful if you frequently share sensitive materials or discuss things that you wouldn't necessarily want everyone to read. And yes, you can enable these privacy protections right away on your existing account.

Can you see who privately viewed your LinkedIn?

No. Although you cannot see who visited your page, you can rest assured knowing that no one saw your profile unless you specifically shared it publicly. Also, you won't be notified whenever another person views your profile unless you've made it visible publicly first.

As long as you haven't done that, nobody will ever know what you posted, even if they happen to stumble upon your profile accidentally.

Can you see who viewed your LinkedIn in private mode?

Yes, although you have to sign into your account separately to check it. Once you log in, click My Profile in the top menu bar followed by Account Settings & Privacy Preferences. Then select Private Viewings under Your Visibility Options. Finally, toggle the box next to See Who Views My Public Information to On.

Now, anytime you post something publicly, LinkedIn automatically displays a notification that says, "Someone recently viewed your profile," letting you know that someone took a peek at your profile. But if you turn off that feature, you won't get any notifications whatsoever.

Similarly, whenever someone visits your profile, they will receive a message saying, "Someone looked at your profile today." Again, you can disable this notification if you prefer.

And finally, you can easily switch between normal and private modes simply by clicking the dropdown arrow located directly above your profile photo. Clicking that button takes you straight to your profile in private mode where you can edit your bio, add a cover image, upload multiple photos, update your status, etc. Without switching to private mode first, you would only be able to edit your profile in regular mode.

All of these features are great for keeping tabs on who looks at your page and why, especially if you often post sensitive material. They also come in handy if you want to make sure that certain parts of your profile aren't being seen by potential employers.

LinkedIn Premium allows you to track who sees your posts and keeps you updated on when they happen.

Finally, remember that you can always delete your entire profile if you want to remove all traces of yourself altogether. Just be aware that doing so permanently deletes all your activity, meaning that none of your previous posts, comments, endorsements, recommendations, etc. will exist anymore.

Plus, deleting your profile doesn't affect your ability to apply to future jobs, submit resumes, or otherwise engage in activities related to your career. All of these actions require that you maintain a valid LinkedIn profile in the first place.

While LinkedIn Premium isn't necessary for many people, it definitely adds a few valuable perks if you're looking to build a stronger connection base, promote your brand, learn new skills, reach influencers, become part of interesting communities, and so forth. For instance, it lets you create custom job alerts that show relevant opportunities matching your criteria, view analytics reports detailing engagement rates among various audiences, and perform searches across hundreds of thousands of profiles simultaneously.

On top of that, you can send personalized messages to prospects, follow hashtags related to your industry, and discover new ideas and insights within targeted lists of members. There are tons of ways to improve your overall visibility on LinkedIn thanks to the paid subscriptions alone.

However, if you're serious about finding better employment opportunities and boosting your career, consider signing up for a fully featured Recruiter Networker Pro subscription that unlocks even deeper insights and helps you attract and hire high quality candidates. We wrote a detailed article explaining everything that goes along with hiring managers' preferences, how to optimize your resume, and how to ace interviews using the platform.
